Salam alaikum everyone. I have a question that was posed to me today by my very inquisitive 7 yr old daughter. For once I did not have the answer. Her question was if a normal human body temp was 98.6 degrees farenheit then why is it when it's 98 degrees outside you arent comfortable....I would really like an answer please, sorry if it seems silly.:o

Your body is only comfortable when it can shed it's excess heat. When air temps approach the high 90's your body loses it's ability to easily shed heat and you actually start to raise your body temp

Because when its body tempreture out side your body has to work very hard to stay cool and avoid over heating, when the outside temp is below body temp your body doesnt have to work so hard to avoid over heating!

hth

I have an inquisitive lot at home who are always baffling me with questions like this, I've learnt a lot mashallah, like why the sky is blue!!

also just to add dont confuse ur inner temperature with that which is comfortable with ur external skin etc... so ur inner body might be suited to that heat but ur outer is not...

also most of ur body is made of water so u lose lots of water in such heat which causes problems for ur body aswell...

aswell as the reasons mentioned above :D

I'll direct her to Nami :D And just in the case he tries to send her back my way, I will tell her to ignore everything he says to her..except ofcourse, the 'Kal is so awesome' parts I've taught him :)

Your internal body temp is higher because your body is always working, which produces heat but its different when you experience something like 98 degrees outside

It's amazing, when you talk to little kids, how profound and deep their thoughts can be. It's wonderful and very eye opening to speak to someone that thinks outside the box
