Living in the UK, Muslims are constantly competeing with Christmas in terms of hype, excitment, awe and wonder. what do you do to make Eid a memorable occasion for the little uns in your household? what fun things do you get up to, please post your contributions here so the rest of us can big up Eid in style for the kids :hidban: its soooo important

I give gifts but arrange a 12 stage treasure hunt for my lil sis (7) to find her pressies. she squeals with excitement and literally leaps from her bed first thing in the morning. Last Eid she had to complete a treasure hunt in which she found her eid clothese hidden along with clues :) she started off in her pyjamas and ended up with her eid dress, bedraggled hair and hair ribbons all over the p[lace. great fun.

also taking the kids along to the masjid and encouraging them to part with some of their cash for less fortunate kids around the world.

please share yours!

Eeman that is one of the cutest ideas ive heard of. :inlove:

Fortunately for me, me and my relatives celebrate Eid by giving wrapped presents as well. Last year, although im not a kid :p , i also took part in a little treasure hunt game. ....it was about me and 7 other sisters. It was crazy fun! (except the part where i had to dig thru dirty laundry to find the next clue)

Eids are always for the kids, no doubt! its important to make it a special time for them. they only have 2 Eids and if your living in the west, the non muslims have a different Eid just about every month. make them happy on EID, they deserve to feel special. Inshaa Allah.

i keep hinting for a digital camera...but no one seems to be paying attention

they do that on purpose sometimes, and next thing you know...."Surprise!":hidban:

:D well my hints are pretty obvious...

if i were to say "Radio Shack is having an excellent sale on digital cameras, so make sure you go there today, okay!?"is that being to subtle?:p

nahh, sister that wont work...you gotta use those *sigh* "I wish i had a digi cam, so i can take nice pics on Eid" :p OR

"Digi cams don't require developing, theyre so much more convenient" ;)

Well...you are married to a man, we don't take hints subtle or otherwise :D
My advice would be to say something like, "listen sucker...either I get a camera for Eid or you may learning how to cook and clean for yourself mister." :D

I would also resort to "underhanded persuasion" Tahiya, but we'd need to discuss these in the sister's section for obvious reasons ;)

Dont be daft! you wont get a digi cam, rule of thumb in my house is that you dont spend a tenner on anyway over the age of 16 :D we're all too cheap and your too old for expensive presents!

im struggling with what to get my lil sis this year, she got a VTech last year, cant seem to top it and shes got a bike already, ahh i know, al get her a kiddie digi cam.... :D

I have no kids. But I do have 11 neices and nephews Mashallah and am trying to imagine arranging a treasure hunt for them. And I must say my head is hurting at the thought :(
What we usually end up doing for Eid is just cooking loads of food, taking loads and pictures and then perhaps visiting some people if it isnt pouring down with rain (which it usually does!)

Another thing i do with my friends is we all give each other a small of budget of lets say £10 to buy presents and then swap them when we get together. Thats always fun :D

like a secret santa? or eid baba :)

other good gifts are any of the bath/soaps/shower gels from Lush. they start at around £2-10. (im not hinting at all honest, lol)

and for friends and family you have that arent very practising, nasheeds (the happy clappy ones) are great as starters to deen in a non intrusive and pressurised way.

ever since i can remeber my dad has always ritually presented his kids with £10. doesnt matter that we're in our twenties but its sweet nonetheless. :D

my kids wanted the new Nintendo Wii for Eid. I had to drive all over town looking for that thing, everywhere was still sold out of them. i finally came across one two days before Eid.

soooo.....i figured i had to spend so much time trying to find this stupid thing that i would make them search for it. so i made up a ton of clues, when they figured out a riddle, they went to the next location, and found another clue. they eventually found it and played it until 3:00 am...had to make them go to bed those silly obsessed video game addicts ..;)

hehe funny thread!

We always got money for eid, never presents.....i prefer money anyway.

Now I dont take money either, but my dad forces it upon us, but I really dont want it so with the money i just buy Eid presents for people that we were gonna get eid presents for.

kids shouldnt get a lot of stuff on eid cuz theyre too young to understand wat true appreciation is. so i think the money and the presents my parents would normally give my 9 yr old brother should be invested in me cuz im older and i will appreciate those things but the lil kid will just forget everything in a few years.

so kiddos, pass on your gifts to me :hidban:

OMG speaking of eid, my comp. prog. prof schedualed a midterm on EID!!!! :torture: :(
