Oh, The prophet :saw: had a mainly vegetarian diet. We shouldnt eat soo much meat nowadays people eat soo much, and it is pumped with chemicals n stuff. We should only eat it occasionally.

how can people not eat meat urghhhhhhhhhh :torture:

I don't know
16-10-06, 07:02 PM
Well, it's good if you're mindful of sustainable development. Land is more efficiently used to grow food for humans than to grow food for animals that are food for humans.

A lot of people in developing countries are forced to be vegetarians.

uggggh do u know how bad of a diet vegan is.... u get protein and calcium deficiency immediately.. then followed up by long term iron deficiency and anemia especially for women... man... ughhhhhhhh it is soo bad for u especially a vegan diet.. but i bet £1000000000000000 billion pounds ur not a true vegan... do u drink milk :P

allah (Swt) made the animals, and he gave us the barakah of eating them... man subhanallah imagine life without mean... ... nah cant imagine it tooooo painful... :(

Bad diet? Seriously brother? Where did you hear this? Because I read many and many studies that say other wise brother:p

Protein and calcium deficiency immediately? Come on brother, where did you get that?

Meat is not only source of protien, 4 spoons of peanut butter has more protien than entire can of Tuna.

And...I drink soy milk:)

That reminds me, I forgot to buy some today:(

Being a veggie is alright...just as long as u know that Allah (swt) has also given us the priviledge of eating meat and if u so choose to you can.

I used to be a veggie before i became muslim purely because of the way the poor animals were slaughtered but since i became muslim i feel much more comfortable eating the meat as i know its halaal and not produced in a disgusting way!

because i study these things... plus have to do them for my course...

4 spoons of peatnut butter has a lot of protein... but protein comes in loads of different types and in terms of digestion is totally differnt... see u cld eat a wot u call it a ton of protein sheikh, but that will not do u as good as eating a chicken because of the type of food it is and also to do with digestion... also it gives problems for women in terms of child birth etc, and breastfeeding.... suffice it to say ull get very few professional athletes on a vegan diet... and very few dieticians will reccomend it... serioulsy it is reallllllllyyyy bad for u... after the few week psychological thing that happens wears off ull see for urself inshallah. :D

I don't just get peanut butter to get my protien, thats digusting:S Like you said, there are different types of protien, from many different sources. Meat might have protien, but has so many negative effects attached to it. It also does horrible things to your digestive system.

I don't want to be an athlete, but Carl Lewis was an athelete. He won 9 gold medals and accredited this success to his vegan diet.

A few dieticians recommend it? The only doctors who reversed heart disease, both had a vegetarian diet in their plans.

Insh'Allah I hope to see for myself:D

Anyone ever hear of eating for your blood type? I am a huge fan of it.
My wife and I tried going vegetarian several years ago. My weight shot up, my HDL's crashed and my LDL's went through the roof, I had no energy and I was sick almost constantly. Agriculture is a recent development for humans. I come from a stock of people that were hunter gatherers(type o blood type) who's diets were largely meat and natural selection has created an animal that needs meat. This is the primary reason that diabetes is so rampant in Native American groups. We have switched our diets from the plants that are in season and meat to a diet higher in carbs and sugars year round

Indeed the break down goes like this

type O's, hunter gatherer societies that need mostly meat
Type A's, from areas that have agriculture/coastal areas and the diet requires some meat/fish with more carbs. Will do ok in the short term on veg diet but not in the long term
Type B's, coastal areas which require more fish and carbs from grains. Can adapt quite well to vegetarian diet
AB's from more tropical areas that can easily handle a vegetarian diet

Not sure...many nations were very civilized while others were a stones throw from being cavemen. Religion varied from tribe to tribe but I do know that most worshipped a Great Spirit.
In the Iroquois tradition there is a story about the great spirit that goes like this...
The story of the False Face
Once there was a servant of the great spirit that was greatly favoured by him. He became arrogant and thought himself to be as powerful as the great spirit so he challenged the great spirit to a contest.
They were standing on top of the mountains in the west and in a show of his power, the servant transported himself and the great spirit across the continent to the east. Delighted with himself he said to the great spirit, "Can you do more then this?"
The great spirit said nothing but the servant heard a rumbling behind him and turned to see what it was when a mountain smacked him in the face, forever distorting his features to make him despised by men.
The false face seeks to tempt us from following the great spirit because he despises the great spirit and mankind because he knows that mankind is loved by the great spirit above all of his creations.

Most native traditions have a pluralistic structure of deities and demons but most do recognize that the greatest of these is the great spirit who controls everything

am not sure if it is or not but I do know that here in Canada, if you recieve blood or blood products it all comes from the red cross. They are the only legal source for blood in Canada. It was my understanding that donating blood or organs was halal so long as you did not die from the donation ie heart, lungs etc where they have to harvest from a breathing body

-Vegetarianism-

"Islam allows some consumption of meat, this meat is known as "Hallal", and this meat is sacrificed by the Islamic standards, and disallowed meat is "Haram", which is non permitted meat or meat not sacrificed due to Islam's standards. Islam also excludes the consumption of pork (pig meat)."
