One thing i noticed a while back was that practicing sister wearing hijab/jilbab/nikab...... when thier lost and cant find their way and say that thers no femails around they'd rather approach a non-muslim man and ask him for direction and help rather then a practicing brother.....:
is it just me who noticed this?? rubeyes:

aint come across this .... but seems serious.

can anyone shed more light of the reasons for this? I'm curious

well u cant ask us why they do this ,we dont know ... also u cant say ''sisters that wear hijaab and jilbab'' , coz thats a generalisation [not from islam, its just the individuals themselves-if it was something to do with modesty then u can generalise with muslim women as thats how they are meant to be, and this is from islam]

.....but anyway if ur asking about what islam says , Allahu Alam , but i think it would be more bettering for a muslim woman to ask a muslim man , so they both conduct themselves in the right manner [i.e.lowering the gaze] being of benefit for both of them , allahu alam

If i got lost i would ask the first person about direction. I would not wait until a muslim man would appear to tell me.:)

maybe its just the sisters you know

like mara said...if you're lost..you're not exactly gonna be fussy about who you ask

thats what i ment sis. if she had a choice between a practising bro or a non-muslim dude.

the reason i mentiond it is coz i see it happen in east-london alot and kinda get abit confused

they might have good reasons behind it....Allahu alam

There might be an issue about not wanting to give the brother the wrong idea- at least a non-Muslim is unlikely to think you might be interested in him!
I know brothers who are comfortable talking to non-Muslims but embarassed to speak to hijabi sisters.
If I needed to ask the way, I'd probably ask a woman rather than approach a strange man.

Now that you mention it, Yep, I might do just that. But for me it's not about their religion. If brothers are hanging out in gangs I would never approach them same thing with non-muslims. If they're by themselves or wife, children etc going about their own business then yeh I'd probably ask them. I wouldn't want to draw attention to myself, just for asking directions.

Its not a big issue to make a thread about. And I dont think it is most people who even do that. I would approach it in the same order as we use for doctors...

muslim female
non muslim female
muslim male
non muslim male.

nothing confusing or complecated about it. if the top one on the list is not available then work ur way down... and continue.
