Assalam Alaykum
Was just wondering if people take their glasses off or keep them on when praying??
Al-ghurabah

dont wear them..
:wswrwb:
It would depend on how much it interferes with their Salah, particularly when in Sujood ? (pressure of glasses on bridge of nose ? hazy eyesight isn't really an issue...unless it gives you a headache? )
Most people I know keep them on.
The few who remove them, leave them lying infront of them during their salah or in their bag/pocket.

all my life I have prayed with glasses on and they are all slightly inbalanced. the other day I went to see my optician and she said I should take them off when praying.
Yesterday, for the first time I took them off for maghrib and then after salah I couldnt find them. I took another pair out cuz i was in hurry, later when I went to pray Esha/taraweeh I took them off and left them in front of me. this old uncle jee did not just walk in front of me while I was praying, he stepped on my glasses :(
Good thing I only went to the local one, and ended up walking home with a broken pair, couldnt see jack :( .. also the good thing was that was a spare pair.
I recommend keep them on.

I've always wondered this.....if someone could enlighten me :D
Doesn't it irritate you that you are dependent on your glasses to see clearly?
My eyesight is slightly hazy...not enough to warrant glasses (-0.5!)...but sometimes if I cant see something from afar...it really irritates me :help:

nah, once you get a prescvription done at an optician, they legally have to give you a copy! they can try and persuade you but they can't force you!
oh wait, the prices includes the prescription lenses. (you have to enter the details online)

I wear contacts mostly but change to glasses sometimes when i arrive home. My home pair are annoying because they're loose now so always slip to the end of my nose when i'm in ruku/sajdah, so take em off as they're distracting. If i'm wearing the other pair that don't move about i'll happily keep them on:)

Na'am Akhy- their the rimless type! But the frame itself is still waaay too thick for my liking you can get these really thin types like mine.
No the glazed thingy I have stays the same but protects my eyes as harmful rays from the puter etc. do not pass through.

i've been wearing contacts for a while, but since my eye's are messing up i had to switch to glasses. i forgot to take em off before I got into prayer and once i got into sujood i felt the pressure on the glasses against my head. very uncomfortable.
on one hand, i didn't want to ruin the new specs, but on the other hand i don't want to compromise my salaah. anyway i just take it off when doing namaaz now. I can hardly look at the point infront of me (where i give sujood) but it doesn't matter aslong as I can keep focus on the namaaz and not think about anything else....
i don't like the thin ones..too flimsy
I used to have the rimless thin ones but everytime i'd end up losing them more often coz i couldn't see where i put them now i got rims again ah that's better...unless it's dark

I hve never tried contacts. Last time I had eye test, I asked if I can get contacts and they said I have to go on a course to learn how to use and look after contacts before they can prescribe.

for those who wear contact lenses, how on earth do you get used to them?
i went for a trial once and i cried the whole time :crying2: , my eyes just couldnt adjust. the optician made me wear them for a full 20 mins which seemed like hours, i was literally begging him to take them out
btw, they were glass permeable ones (back in the old days :D )

^ apparantly my prescription was too high to have soft lenses.... but what about soft lenses tho' it's like having a huge spec of dust in your eyes, how can anyone get used to that?
i'm as blind as a bat but don't wear my glasses when i go out because of my niqaab. i want to learn to drive soon and i would definitely need to have them on otherwise i'll probably end up killing a few people...what kind of lenses would be best for me considering i have super sensitive eyes? (sorry if this sounds like i'm having a consultation with the opticians, lol)

soft lenses are very comfy...they settle in seconds...and after that it feels like theres nothing in your eyes

soft lenses are the most comfy lenses!
i hav many types of contacts and they ude to irritate my eyes but the soft lenses are really comfy tho. many people cnt wear soft lenses coz it irritates them but i gez that just depends on the persons eyes!

I voted "I don't know" if I keep my glasses on. Which is rather stupid, cos then I probably don't even need them.
Basically I do both. Mostly I take them off because I don't want to ruin them. Sometimes little kids take them and run away, but I try not to fret and mostly they are returned in top shape, Alhamdulillah.
If I am outside, or I forget, and I leave them on. This isn't a problem because my nose is quite big (sticking-out-wise) and so they don't get pressed into the floor and hence don't get bent/broken. It might be more of a problem for those with more squat-noses (no names).
My sister wears her glasses to sleep, her eyesight is quite bad, she can't even see her dreams without them! I think if you are similar in short-sightedness it isn't a good idea to take them off because you will just feel vulnerable and insecure.
Sometimes when I wear lenses and do a sajdah it feels as if my eyes are going to fall out, really heavy feeling, although uncomfortable rather than painful. Can give a little bit of a headache, maybe its just me.
I hope all the chatter was useful.

A course!? Did you lseem as if you were unreliable or hopeless by any chance?
Actually, I had two meetings to get the contacts in. My eyes were really sensitive to "violation" and I kept blinking to start off with. My siblings had a good old snicker at my woes. But Alhamdulillah now I ain't having too much problem - ha, showed them!

hey sis is that a bit of pride/???/
i don't wear glasses so i couldn't say but just a tip for those who lose their glasses when they take them off (which i find hilarioous to watch as my sis is always doing it. she always walks arounf squinting then when she trying to find them and making a right fuss "has anyone seen my glasses?" and because she knows i find it hilarious i'll become the first culprit..."have you hiiden them ? its not funny you knw." hahaha but it is)
anyway my advice was have a special place for your glasses so you know where you've put them when you take them off, and if you take them off just to pray then put them next to your jay namaz.

Well my dads a eye doctor and he sells glasses as well so i know quiet a bit.
Are you talking about the coating???
Do you wear a plastic frame??????
If you leave your glasses in the car where it's open to the sun's exposure you can warp your lenses and that will also deform your frame and sometimes change the shape of your lenses.
The uv raise from the sun could also be reacting with the coating on your lens.

You don't know, guess where you got your glasses from they didn't explain it to you. It's a coating applied onto the lens, reduces glare, it's amazing for night driving, reading, watching tv and like viewing the computer and stuff. It has a colourish effect on the lens.
