Assalaamu'alaikum,
Ramadan Mubarak! I was looking for a few verses in the Qur'an and Hadith for an Islamic military studies program and was wondering if any of you can help. Below are the verses I am looking for.
In the Qur'an: Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolators wherever you find them, take them captive and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave thier way free. Lo! Allah is forgiving, merciful.
Hadith: A man asked Muhammad, What is the best deed? Muhammad replied, to believe in Allah and His Messanger. The man then asked, What is the next in goodness? The Prophet replied, To participate in jihad in Allah's cause.
Hadith: A man asked Muhammad to show him a deed equal tojihad in reward. Muhammad told the man, I do not find such a deed.
Hadith and or Qur'an: According to Islamic Tradition, a Muslim dying in jihad has all his sins blotted out and automatically wins an honored position in heaven, the garden of paradise. In addition the martyr:
recieves a crown with an invaluable ruby set in the center.
is married to 72 dark-eyed celestial virgins
Allah intercedes for 70 of the martyr's relatives
Hadith: Allah said: my slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid paradise to him. (Forbidding suicidal actions)
All will be going into an article that will be used for explaining Islamic military action of the Warrior prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and modern day mujahideen, as well as a stance against terrorism.
