A former Guantanamo Bay detainee, Moazzam Begg was kidnapped by
Pakistani authorities and sent to Bagram and later, Cuba, for 3 years. He was returned to Britain and released in January 2005. Moazzam has authored the bestselling autobiography "Enemy Combatant".
Abu Hasnayn Murtaza Khan is a renowned da'ee and graduate in Usool-ud-Din from Islamabad University. Currently he is an Islamic Studies teacher at Al-Noor school. He is also a Jumu'ah khateeb with several years of experience.
Presentations by Cageprisoners and HHUGS (Helping Households Under Great Stress) will be played during the course of the day.
A bookstall will be present where Enemy Combatant will be available for purchase. HHUGS was setup in September 2004 by the efforts of the local community in response to the increasing number of 'anti-terror' arrests across the country.
HHUGS provides practical support and advice to households devastated by the arrest of a family member.
Cageprisoners was established in October 2003 to raise awareness of the plight of the caged prisoners at Guantanamo Bay and elsewhere through effective legal means.
