Its how the anti-islamic press describe muslims who voice political descent and stand up for human rights. The foundation of a building is built on 4 columns, the fifth one is the odd one out.

I dunno where the expression originates from though.. but it has negative connotations.

the army within

the french were the engineers of this term, they wud plant people within lands which they wanted to takeover. so when the french attacked from outside, they had support from inside - the fifth column.

the west believe muslims are looking to take over west, and there is over 20 million muslims in west - thats one big fifth column.

we is a threat to them, so they have few options, deport, lock up, give their own version of islam to us - or ultimately kill.

or i might be totally wrong about this 5th colum thing.

Although about numbers of muslims in europe its more like 40 million , if we include Russia witihn Europe, which initself it has upto 20 million muslims - iam not talking about its various satallite states.

And if we include Turkey... then its more then a 100 million muslims in Europe... :D
