Can I pray to Allah to help me with the obbsession to food? It is really like an addiction.

You can pray to Allah(swt) for anything.. no matter how big or small.. Allah(swt) should be the one we always turn to for help, for surely noone can help you but Him..

..at the same time you should put in as much effort as you can yourself to do something about it.. see a doctor and get him to refer you to someone who can maybe help more with your problem.. you have to take practical steps to find help and pray to Allah(swt) to provide it for you.

You can make dua for anythin' provided its halal.

You should also try to adhere to the Qur'an and sunnah.

The Prophet saw said that the stomache should be filled 1/3 with air, 1/3 food and 1/3 liquid.

Exercisin' such as swimmin' / runnin' (the Prophet saw used to run against his wife Aisha ra) can also increase metabolism and improve your health. 'Make the most of your health' before you fall ill' is another good motivator to look out for health.

Make dua that Allah makes it easy for u to follow the example of the Prophet saw and follow his diet. Its the intention that counts.

Ingest Hoodia, Fennel, Dandelion herbs. They suppress the appetite.
Get a hobby that doesn't involve hand to food to mouth action.

Also, try and work out why you eat, is it hunger or are you upset when you reach for 10 KFC bargain buckets?

If you are stressed out take a magnesium, Vitamin B6, L-Tryptophan supplement.
Laugh a lot.
At everything.

That helps. Well, helps to make people think you're mad.

East stuff with a high-fibre content. It suppresses your appetite for a few hours. Try brown bread, cornflakes, oatmeal, porridge etc.

Alternative therapies are very good when it comes to this sort of things. There was a series on TV called "the spa of embarrassing illnesses" in which a woman was being treated for compulsive overeating. It turned out that she was a Coeliac (ie her body had an intolerance of wheat products) and this may have been a cause behind her problems with food. It's worth checking with your doctor first and hopefully he/she could send you to a specialist although I doubt they'd help much.

Alternative therapies such as Chinese herbal medicine and homeopathy are generally much more effective at dealing with such things than the usual conventional medicine.
