I needed the comp mainly for office work, internet surfing and thirdly some gaming at times , although i find it hard to get da time for the later two.
My main factors for the customized PC were in order of priority
1.Price
2.Stablility ( iam installing linux ubutu and other software to help in this)
3. Good monitor.
4 Lots of HD and RAM - for gaming.
As iam an accountant and not a IT expert... here is how it went.. you can see if its worth it.. :)

MSI ATI Radeon X800 XT 256mb PCI-E Graphics Card - £77 ( this is one HELLL OF A BARGAIN!! , Google itfor UK prices )
( bargain from ebay!! http://www.desiflavour.com/home/images/smilies/set1/001_smile.gif ) a very good graphics card.
Ive spent £510 ( inc VAT ) - i can claim the VAT on a business account easily. The good monitor and good graphics card were the only heft expenses... BUt the graphics card is a massive bargain!!!! Also I couldnt be bothered to go with a 60 quid dell monitor with no DVI. Oh and i know the processor is a little slow, but the motherboard is good for upbrading for the next 2-3 years. so i can get a nice Dual core or whateva later!!
Only problem i may possibly encounter are underpoweredness on the PSU unit, in which case i'll have to dish out another 30 odd quid to get the right one. ....
