Salaam.
a friend of mine the other day sent me this really funny photo of the Yr 13s 'asian crew', no-ones looking 'ready' in the picture and omg lol its just so funny. anyway, i had all these crazy ideas of putting speech bubbles next to the people and writing funny jokey comments on them but i dont know how to!
i know if you insert a picture on a word document you can do speech bubbles and write text in them but, it doesn't save the picture with the text on it, it just saves it as a doc file.
Does anyone know any software i can download from the net that lets you put speech bubbeles?

There's an easier way (and cheaper) to do this...
Auro: You can do it in word with speech bubbles.
With the doc open, do a screen print.
Open up Paint.
Edit > Paste - This will paste the screen dump in Paint.
Then crop round the picture (drag and drop) til you get a box round the part you want. Make sure 'Select' is selected from the icons on the left side.
Edit Cut > Edit > Paste - Now you have the section you want on its own, namely the picture.
File > save as > choose a file name / directory > Fron the drop-down list, choose Jpeg.
Discard the rest.
Poor mans Photoshop

if you do the speech bubbles on word doc and copy and paste onto a paint document then theres like a white backbackground on the speechbubble and it covers peoples faces, whereas on the word its transparent so the writings in a bubble but on top of the image.
Photoshops rubbish i hate it i cant use it properly * is stupid* so i might try what rashid's suggest, gotta revise now though ive got a chemistry exam tomorrow :(
Thanks for your suggestions anyway.

You have to do a screen print first first, then paste to Paint.
What you see on the word doc is what you'll paste to Paint.
If you don't want the white backbrground on the speech bubble, then use transparency option...
Do a speech bubble and type some text.
Select the speech bubble so that there is a box around it and right click on the edge of the box.
Select Format Autoshape > Colour and Lines > Fill > move slider to 100% transparency > OK
:) Done.
You can also select thickness of speech bubble, font and colour etc...

BTW, if you can't use photoshop, don't try the GIMP! Its basically the same thing, but completely free, and possibly slightly harder to use...

jazakallah for the offer, but im sure youve got better things to do than write corny comments on someone else pictures lol. im still messing around with irfanview and some other programmes ive found on the internet. if...IF..i still can't get the outcome i want (transparent speechbubbles) then..i might decide to send you the pics, thats if your offer still stands. but id rather not send them because like i said, you've probably got things of your own to do.
thanks once again for the offer. thanks alot.

Het you don't have to be gud with computers, its all about following instructions. The instructions I gave you are gud enough... if you can't follow them... can't blame ur computer - a poor workman always blames his tools .
JFYI: You can't do speech bubbles on IrfanView - U have to do them on word.
The only reason why u wud use IView is to cut the image out of Word after you've taken a screen shot. IV is only an image viewer with a bit of editin' capability.

im not blaming it on my computer :s im blaming it on..i dont get your instructions :s anyway it doesn't matter..when i copy and paste the speech bubbles from word onto irfanview, theyre not transparent..they have a white background *shrugs* even though on word they're transparent, theyve got 'no fill' so..i dont know. anyway its alright. forget it.
thanks for your help.

Forget it? You're havin' a laugh... If the captions are gonna be funny, then it's worth the hassle :p Practise makes perfect.
Sorry for givin' ambiguous instructions. Heres my attempt at simplifyin' instructions: :$
1. Add the speech bubble to the picture in Word and make it transparent. (I think you're OK with doing this).
2. Maximise the Word doc, so it takes up the whole screen.
3. **Important** Press the 'print screen' button on the Keyboard. Its found near the arrow keys in the section between the numbers on the right and letters on the left.
Print screen copies into memory whatever you can see on the screen at the particular moment in time. Hopefully you will have the Word doc maximised and that will be copied into memory. Do not copy the image. Pressing 'Print Screen' has already copied the image. If you copy something after pressing 'Print screen', then you'll have to hit 'Print Screen' again.
4. Open IView.
5. In IV click > Edit > Paste.
Because you've got the 'screen print' copied into memory, when you hit 'paste' in IrfanView it'll paste a picture. The picture will be of what your screen looked like when you pressed 'print screen'.
You should now be able to see the picture you done in Word with speech marks.
6. 'Cos you can see the whole screen in Irfan View you want to edit the picture and remove the bit you don't need.
7. To do this drag a box round the picture. (You might have to 'zoom' out' if you can't see the whole picture' on your monitor. Use the - magnifyin' glass at the top to zoom out if you can't see the whole pic).
8. Once you've selected the area of the picture section only click Edit > Cut Selection. You will notice the section dissappear (ie a black space).
9. Click Edit > Paste. The selection that was 'cut' is now pasted on its own. You won't have the rest of the 'screen' displaying in the new picture.
10. To save the picture click File > Save As > [Choose 'jpeg' from drop down list] and save under whatever name you like.
Once you've done this, you're a qualified desktop publisher... now you can share your new skills with other ppl, and they'll be impressed when you can add a caption to a picture in less than 2 minutes. :D Its easy when you know how ;)

ok i dont think your instructions could get any better. i tried it with a smaller image, one person, and it worked great! so yay i know how to use it..BUT..the picture of my friends, its HUGE even when u do full screen it doesnt fit on the doc so u cant do printscreen for the whole picture, u have to do it in quarters and it just makes it confusing.
anyway its alright, its just for a laugh and i'll just send it to the people in a word doc or i might just send the pic file where the speech bubbles have got a white fill and it covers peoples faces/clothes hm..
thanks a lot once again..

Here's another secret you could add your ever increasin' knowledge of image editin' :L
Its called RESIZIN' :d
Here's how to resize a picture:
1. Open the picture in IView.
2. Click Image > Resize / Resample
3. Here there are a few options you can select.
4. I go with 'set new size as percentage of original'.
Its easier to resize, so if I want the pic half the size I choose '50%' for height and width. Click OK and save the picture.
Now you've got a smaller picture that you can work on :inlove:.

Salaams
have you got powerpoint?
if so, do everything in powerpoint, or just copy and paste everything from word into powerpoint, and then save the file as a jpeg from the menu!

or B) just really bored and you're just sharing some knowledge
either way...thanks..i don't need any further information or help, it's ok, you're help has been appreciated.
