Someone asked Shaykh Dido al-Shinqiti, how do I experience 'sweetness of Iman'?
كيف أجد حلاوة الإيمان
أن ذالك بثلاث خصال بينها النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: «ثلاث من كان فيه وجد بهن حلاوة الإيمان: من كان الله و رسوله أحب إليه مما سواهما، ومن أحب المرء لا يحبه إلا لله، و من كره أن يعود في الكفر بعد إذ أنقذه الله منه كما يكره أن يلقى في النار»
He replied: Through upholding three traits, as explained by the Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam: "Whoever possesed these three, would find, through them, the sweetness of Iman: A person to whom Allah and his messenger is more beloved than all else. He who loves someone solely for the sake of Allah. And the one who hates to return to disbelief just after having been saved from it by Allah, just as he would hate to be thrown in the Hell-fire.
