Assalam,
I have a question regarding death. Before you die, you're supposed to say shahadah, right? What about when a person dies in their sleep? I read (can't remember the source) that its bad to die in your sleep, cos you don't get to call Allah. Does anyone know about this? Would appreciate any clarification:D !!

Assalam,
Thanks for the reply, Random. Yeah, I s'pose saying it before you sleep counts........
Hope death comes whilst we're doing something good.
Anyone else know anything 'bout it? :D
Nothing wrong or frowned upon from the Islamic perspective if a person dies whilst asleep. What counts is how one's life is spent.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah
well, i was taught by my ustadz to cite this prayer each time i try to get some snooze:
In the name of Allah I live, and in His name I die.... so if Allah take my breath away in my deep slumber and i don't get to call Him, that would be just fine.

A little chant I used to say before bed, that is appropriate. At least in english.
"Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray to God my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
I pray to God, my soul to take."
Substituting the Arabic Allah for the English God would be appropriate.
Such as:
"Now I lay down to sleep,
I pray Allah, my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake,
I pray Allah my soul to take."
The original that they tried to teach me was to say the Lord instead of to God, but then, as now, it makes more sense this way.

^^why can't he be Arab?
there's certain things that it's Sunnah for you to say before you sleep.
Ayat Al Kursi
Surah Al Ikhlas-Three Times
Surah Al Falaq- Three Times
Surah Al Nas- Three Times
Then "Allah(in arabic Allahuma), in Your name i live and in your name i die"
In Transliteration that would be:
"Allahuma Bi' Ismaka A7ya wa Bi' Ismaka Amoot"

yeah, i have also learned that you should recite these 3 surahs before you sleep and then say shahada last.

If you die in ur sleep, take it as a easy death, not a painfulll one, it goes to show, just make sure you are ready to Meet Allah Always, live every day as you are going to die on that day, your judgment day comes when you die!
