View Full Version : How much money would satisfy you?
Salam,
I need this for something :p
Say...
There's this islamic magazine, something like Al-mu'min or something. Not so big just a normal islamic mag that has all the usual stuff in it like...Quran tafsir, stories, hadith with tafsir aswell, competitions things like that. The normal stuff.
But 50-60% of the money received will go to charity, and the rest will go editing and publishing purposes aswell as the writers'.
But it has this section where its dedicated for the community, as in they write articles, obviously it has to be according to Ahlus Sunnah whatever they write.
But say...
YOU were one of the writers, and you had to write a typical article, just say "Day of Judgement" or something. Considering the fact that you don't have to do much "thinking" because you have the internet right at you fingertips and it only takes you about 2-3 hours in a whole month, what you be a satisfactory pay for you?
If you say over £50 then please state your reasons. Thanks.
Salaam,
£10 an hour would do me, if it only takes 2-3 hours a month then £20-£30 a month would be enough I think!
W'Salaam
well sis..for this magazine thing...id do it voluntarily simply becos i like doing voluntary...i do alot of that ..and alhamdulillah i dont need money..:)
but sis this is me..i dont know if ure earning a living out of this or what..but if u are then id say 10 quid no more..cos at the end of the day u dont people to pay u for ure islamic knowledge..keeping in mind the advantages of course.
It's not for me :p but I was thinking, you know sometimes they have a sort of "creative peice" where the article is copyrighted and everything, and they don't like you copying because it took the author his/her own effort to write it. Obviously the articles are islamic but the style and opinions in it are the writers, so they'd most probably want some credit for their work.
If people did it Fi sabeelillah then okay, jazakallahu khair to them, but say the magazine was aimed for sister's particular who ain't able to go out for work and things like that and do want pay. Then I wouldn't want them to complain about little pay.
I'll see the results at the end inshaAllah. It's upto you all. But do be honest, coz 50-60% of the money is going for charity anyway + competition prizes etc.

Well, if its one article which may take a fwe hours of one's time they should do it for free because the reward of it will outlive the person, ie whenever someone reads it the writer will get the reward etc.
Its actually an easy way of gaining loads of reward.

rizq is fixed by allah.. you will get what you are entitled to.. so dont do haram thinking you will earn morem oney as you wil only be stealing from yourself... yu would have got that money anyway..
also hadeeth says if you giove son of adam one mountain of gold he will want another...
wealth is a test from alah.. those who have it will be tested by alalh on what they use it for.. do they give charity. help the needy.. or just waste it in haram ways..
remember the story of the sahabahs thalab i think who asked the prophet for wealth.. the porphet warned him ofthe dangers.. but he insisted.. so the prophet made duah..
after he got wealthy he stopped attending prayers.. stopped giving zakat too..
after he died the sahabhs didnt know weather to do janazah for him or not
Aye brother I'm worried about giving it, not receiving it :(
I wouldn't want people to think I'm jacking their effort without giving anything in return :( Hence the poll, I want to know how much you'd want.
If fi-sabillillah wins then it would probably move to prizes and gifts then :D
I think you should offer the person a decent amount, but if that person (after you have offered it) says s/he will do it for free then alhumdulillah!
Also, I think it is not a good idea to ask the person how much s/he would like, that will put them in a awkward position! It's best to do research like this and offer that amount.
Just don't suggest that they should do it for free!
salam
yeah obviously :p, that's what the poll is for!!
Ah ok, I probably didn't understand what you ment by:
If fi-sabillillah wins then it would probably move to prizes and gifts then :D
I thought if fi-sabillillah gets the most votes you will expect them to do it for free, but I was obviously wrong to think that! :p
