Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu Ummah..:)
To be honest I'm dying of hayfever..Im sitting in the exam hall trying to do my exams(as you do:p)and I spend most of the time sniffling and trying to not rub my eyes and it's just such an irritation.
Does anyone know anything effective-that actually works for hayfever because I cant go on like this,my eyes are so watery and rghh its even killing the back of my throat and making it all sore..:spunch:
So yeah,if anyone knows anything effective..tried and tested is even better that you think I should give a go..:)it'd be much appreciated if you let me know..(wow that rhymes:p)

It was narrated in al-Saheehayn that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No tiredness, exhaustion, worry, grief, distress or harm befalls a believer in this world, not even a thorn that pricks him, but Allaah expiates some of his sins thereby.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5210; Muslim, 4670).

Wa Assalam..:hidban:Wa AAlaykum Salaam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
You should try eating honey in the morning and evening. When I say honey, I'm not talking about the tesco, asda type of honey (which is usually processed), I'm referring to raw, unprocessed honey. This is the type of honey the prophet (saaws) was referring to.
This isn't avalible instore but is online. Here's one online dealer you can purchase from (xynergy (http://www.xynergy.co.uk/xynergysite/c/Honeys+Propolis+Pollen)) - I buy my honey from them btw (This (http://www.xynergy.co.uk/xynergysite/Honeys+Propolis+Pollen%5FEco%2DKiwi+Honey.htm#NRH5 00H) is the one I buy).
I haven't tried this before but you could put three drops of olive oil into each nostril in the morning and evening. See how it goes.

Salaam,
I suffer from hayfever, dust allergy and pollution all year round. The doc prescribed me Zirtek (antihistamine 10mg) which i take daily durin' summer / autumn and one every 2 to 3 days durin' winter / spring.
I feel for those that suffer from hayfever untreated. It kills the throat, affects the eyes and nose... can't function properly with half your senses 'out or order'.
I must say I'm interested to have this jab as I have bad hayfever... technology has developed and so maybe this will help with the symptoms insha'allah. How much does this jab cost? Takin' pills dialy also makes u feel drowsy, so I'll need omega 3 fish oils to help concentrate.
*runs to make an appointment with GP*.

Sis unique, everyone is different, so what works for someone else might not work for you, so most people kind of have to try everything until they find something, looks like you've done that :p...if the stuff you buy from pharmacy doesnt work, you have to get something from the GP inshallah.

Ah Steroid jab... I read 'bout that on the net.
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~aair/hayfeverRx.htm#SEC4
Apparently a steroid jab will sort u out for a few years, so i can discard the anti-histamine prescriptions at £6 a time...
What a perfect excuse to get some performance enhancin' drugs in your system...
Hmmm... bigger muscles... faster sprints... win the London marathon...

Hay Fever (Middle East)
One tablespoon of Black Seed Oil mixed with a glass of lemon should be taken twice daily until symptoms disappear.

not tried it yet......*goes to buy some Black seed oil.....*
ASALAMU ALAIKUM WARAHMATULLAHI WABARAKATUHU,
Hayfever is a problem in the UK.
BLACK SEED OIL IS ONE REMEDY. THE PROPHET (SALLALU ALAIHI WASALLIM) STATED IN A HADITH THAT BLACK SEED OIL HAS A CURE FOR EVERTHING EXCEPT DEATH.
I know some that have benefited from it and it has alhamdulillah improved their hayfever.

Steroid jabs are a bit extreme aint they????
There are side effects, many including the ones sis Unique mentioned.
Best to avoid I think, continue to try other things inshallah.

You want to avoid steroid injections. Last resort if its really severe, but for mild hayfever, you're best off just taking anti-histamines.

Important Safety Information
RHINOCORT AQUA (budesonide) is for the treatment of seasonal and year-round nasal allergy symptoms in adults and children 6 years of age and older.
The most commonly observed side effects associated with the use of RHINOCORT AQUA in clinical studies were nosebleed, sore throat, nasal irritation, and cough.
Your doctor may prescribe RHINOCORT AQUA at a dose of 1 to 4 sprays per nostril once daily. Take RHINOCORT AQUA exactly as directed.
Your nasal allergy symptoms may begin to improve within 10 hours after first using RHINOCORT AQUA. In one group of patients that were studied, RHINOCORT AQUA and the nasal spray mometasone furoate both improved nasal allergy symptoms within 8 hours. However, you must continue to take your medication every day, as directed by your doctor. Your nasal allergy symptoms will continue to improve over the first few days, and maximum relief may take about 2 weeks to achieve.

Here's How Rhinocort works.
How does it work?
Budesonide belongs to a group of medicines known as corticosteroids. Corticosteroids act inside the body's cells to decrease the release of certain chemicals that are involved in the body's immune system, and which initiate an inflammatory reaction. By decreasing the release of these chemicals, corticosteroids help reduce inflammation.
Individuals, who suffer from nasal allergies (allergic rhinitis), such as hayfever, house dust or pet allergy, tend to experience a variety of symptoms due to the inflammatory reaction. Inflammation of the nasal passage is associated with congestion of the nasal tissues and a runny and blocked nose. Other symptoms include sneezing and watery, itchy eyes. Corticosteroids can be used to treat these symptoms. This medicine is given as a nasal spray specifically to prevent the inflammation that occurs due to allergies affecting the nasal passage.
As this medicine is given as a nasal spray, this delivers the budesonide directly to the place where it is needed. When it is used in this way, only a small dose is required and the likelihood of side effects occurring elsewhere in the body is low.
The medicine can take three to seven days to have its full effect and must be used regularly.

tried and tested treatment for hayfever
eat local honey, (honey which is locally sourced and produced in your region) , and this will make you immune to pollen in your area, inshallah
i used to have it all year round :| then i was on clarityn for agesss and it went away alhamdulillah
i still get it occasionally
Happened to me, when i had my maths exam.. flopepd it cuz of the hayfever.. had to do sa retake.. drinks loads and lods of water,. trust me it will cure it..
sis_sarah
25-02-07, 09:37 PM
does ure gp provide hayfever tablets?
they work really well with me..
also, i was told to have a spoon of honey everyday because it contains a small amount of pollen because of the bees etc. and therefore lets ure system build up its ability to deal with pollen as u are actually ingesting it within the honey... just like a herbal vaccination!
also...
Essential oils (http://www.greenwitch.co.uk/aroma.htm) can help, inhaling them directly from a hankie throughout the day. Oils of lavender, chamomile, peppermint, pine, hyssop and eucalyptus should all be given a go, as it will be a personal thing as to what you can inhale whilst undergoing an attack and also which aromas appeal to your particular sense of smell. Even try combining two or three for variation.
Rosewater (http://www.greenwitch.co.uk/aroma.htm) can help your eyes if they are sore, as can the tincture or the infused herb of eyebright (http://www.greenwitch.co.uk/remedies.htm) (try mixing the eyebright with the rosewater) and use with an eyebath.
Echinacea (http://www.greenwitch.co.uk/remedies.htm) should be taken throughout the pollen season three weeks on, one week off, to help your system stand up to the attack of the allergen (applies to all allergies) whilst eyebright can also be taken internally for better results, though others find nettle, hyssop or chamomile more helpful. I am afraid it is trial and error as to what works for you.
Cut down on dairy products and refined starches as they encourage the production of mucus, which will add to the misery, but step up your intake of Vitamin C. (http://www.greenwitch.co.uk/Vitamins.htm) Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine and often helps. Take 1000mg daily but ensure you are taking the full complex complete with bioflavonoid. Garlic daily can also be of great assistance and some find that taking evening primrose oil provides some relief too as can Vitamin B complex. (http://www.greenwitch.co.uk/Vitamins.htm)
Quercetin complex and the benefits
Quercetin (http://www.greenwitch.co.uk/Vitamins.htm) is a bioflavonoid that is natural antioxidant found in onions, broccoli, grapes and other such foods, and is best known for its ability to relieve pain and inflammation. For those who suffer from allergies such as hayfever, Quercetin inhibits the release of histamine – the body’s defence mechanism when invaded by an allergen – just what you need to relieve the misery of hayfever and the likes– give it a go! Make sure you take the full complex as it needs other supplements to bring out the most efficient benefits.

insha'Allah on the day of judgement, when we see the reward for saying "Alhamdulillah" so many times, it will make the sneezing worth it!!the etiquette of sneezing:
When one sneezes, one should say ALHAMDULILLAH. (Bukhari)
In reply to this, one who hears (the person who has sneezed say Alhamdulillah) should say YARHAMU KALLAH. (Bukhari)
The person who has sneezed must reply by saying: YAHDEE KUMULLAHU WAYUSLIHU BAALAKUM. (Bukhari)
Whenever our beloved Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam sneezed, he should cover his face with his hands or with a piece of cloth, so that the sound of the sneeze could not be heard too loudly. (Tirmidhi)
