salam alaikum, I am a new muslim Alhumdolilah. I put on my hijab, mashaAllah, a few days ago. The first day I wore it to work a manager told me that it was against company dress code policy, and that if I didn't take it off during work that she would recommend firing me to the store manager.
Now I spoke to my store managers and they assure me that is not the company's point of view, I have contacted CAIR and WHYISLAM. Alhumdolilah, they are both supporting me. I wanted to write a inspirational poem for sisters that wear the hijab and face day to day prejudice. MashaAllah
M jihad
As i get ready to go into the outside world
I look in the mirror
What do i see?
My beauty
Then i slip on the hijab
why?
I cover my outer beauty
So you take a look at my inner beauty
I step into the cruel and unjust society
of this "free" country
i look at avoiding eyes and stares
i hear whispering from every side
i think to myself "i am not here to please everyone"
i am here to please Allah
then i hold my head with the hijab high
Allah has chosen this jihad for me to overcome
yes this is my jihad

It seems that your manager was acting in a discriminatory way, and could be reported for open discrimination I am pleased you got your way even though the hijab is not for me.

interesting post.
a coupla months ago i started wearing the 'proper hijaab' ie the headscarf and the jilbaab (previous to this i was only wearing headscarf) anyhow, i had a part time job where the uniform was a polo t shirt and trousers. exams were coming up soon anyway so i decided to take this chance to leave my work and start wearing the jilbab. my mum was asking me the other day about getting a job once my exams were done and i told her that i do want a job however i don't want to compromise my faith for it and that i'd only work in a place where i could wear my jilbaab. alhamdulillah living in the UK we have an easy life, it's not completely neccessary for me to have a job as im living with my parents under their support, it's just something on the side you know as a student.
