I agree with you and do understand what you mean. I have been though so many things and I thought that I could trust people-…. But then it show out that you can’t. It amazing that there is some people who are so good at lying or give the right picture of them self.
A good advice is look at the persons manner, if his/her manner are good then it mean they have a good heart too….

The fact that we are supposed to cover peoples sins is one thing.

Stopping criminal and harmful activity in your community is another issue and just as important!

We're meant to cover sins to protect society from corruption through gossiping, defaming people and spreading bad deeds so that they become normal.

At the same time we should be protecting society from bad people who are corrupting it.

If I knew some muslim bloke was selling drugs to kids in my area I'd report him to the police. People like that should not be protected, they should be locked up so that the rest of society can be protected.

Covering sins does not mean turning a blind eye and letting people get away with murder, it means refraining from defaming people and backbiting and ruining their reputations and spreading bad things.

But if your daughter came home crying and told you some dodgy ustad at the madrassa was touching her up, would you think "oh lets protect him he's a muslim." or would you want to castrate him.. well report him to the police and advice the other parents to protect their kids?

akhi u will always see this throughout life... remember that the friends u make the ones who u will truly feel comfortable with u might not even see them for years or months, but u will be praying for them and they will be praying for u and amongst ur greatest desires will be to see them on yawmal qiyamah and u will love each other soley for the sake of allah (swt).... the rest they all just time pass, just chilling wid u to kill time nothing else...

alhamdulillah u have learnt and at a young age aswell.... true friendship is very rare and very precious that is why the best of this ummah were the companions of the prophet (Saw) those that had true friendship with him...

The issue with Trust akhi, this is a sensitive topic - What i've discovered is that unfortunately just when someone calls himself a brother, or even prays it doesnt mean you can completely trust them with the most sensitive topics :(

I think a wise way of knowing whether you can trust someone, is to gradually trust them with smaller things , what I mean is that - tell them something and tell them not to tell anyone, but make sure its something that even if they did break your trust and go and told everyone you woudnt lose much , but youve gained knowledge that you cant trust that guy! :) , get what I mean - and gradually - over time, the trustworthy ones shine out like the bright light of the moon in the middle of the night :)

Another thing that eases pains is that, whenever you do good to someone - just do it knowing that Allah swt sees what you do and insha'Allah he rewards you for it ... dont expect something back. That way, if you do get something bak its a bonus and your :) , and if you dont your happy coz you know Allah swt saw your deed and insha'Allah you'll get rewarded for it :)

Its also a distinct characteristic of a Muslim to keep secrets when he is entrusted with one insha'Allah - ive got 2 pages on this, about the companions examples etc etc - they were SubhaanAllah so careful and determined to guard even the small secrets brothers entrusted with them - Insha'Allah when I get time i'll post them up for us to see and be inspired by insha'Allah

May Allah strengthen the brotherhood, and help us to be among the Trustworthy and Sincere ones...AMEEN.

We just need to bare in mind that human are VERY complicated beings, and limited in thier foresight, knowledge and actions. We all make mistakes at some point in our life, the most important thing what everyone else said too is to learn from those mistakes and ensure we prevent its repetition.

The bond of Brotherhood in Islam is a real bond which unites everyone on the basis of a fundamental belief. This at the same time does not mean we should always expect poeple to be fair with us, its not possible due to human nature. Great men to walk the face of this earth had arguments and at times knowingly or unknowingly did injustice against each other, so we have to recognise this characteristic of human beings and view it as 'gap in conduct' and avoid ill-feelings.. even though it may be very difficult to do so. Alas we should not look of angels in human beings.

To avoid situations we should chose very carefully who we make our friends and confidants, learning it the hardway is sometimes the best way.
