I think high income alone cannot bring good output.
If a person is satisfied with his work and the environment, then the output is much better than a person only receiving high income and not enjoying what he is doing!

So I prefer self satisfaction rather than a high income!:D

Thats my opinion, lets see the world's opinions now!

a good job is one that you allowed to take breaks for prayer.. there is no fitna.. and you dont need to comprmise the deen..

and good pay isnt bad either

You should choose a job that you enjoy and you are good at. Jobs like teaching, doctors, social services etc are good because you are helping teh community. Money is a factor, but there is no point in doing a job which you dont enjoy, even if you are getting paid a lot.
A job should help you develop as a person:)

I chose self satisfaction... this cld include friendly atmosphere, help when needed, being allowed to read salah, and just generally not being felt like the odd one out.

I think the old adage applies. Find something you really love to do, then find a way to make a living doing it.

I think for me, it's a combination of everything everyone has said.

I have chosen to do a job this year that enables me to be obedient to God. In the Bible he commands us to act in a certain way towards others, and the job I have taken on is sometimes incredibly difficult and not immediately self satisfying, but it is a job that is "rewarding" when I see the difference it makes in other people's lives.

To see a child's face glow when they finally can do something by themself is my reward, and to be honest it brings the self satisfaction.

So I guess for me it's doing the work I believe God has given me to do.. and from this flows everything else.

The most important factor in looking for a job in my opinion is the ability to pray 5 times a day!
