Sis Jum'u@h, you are absolutely right. In fact we were very fortunate here in birmingham to have Shaykh Riyad -Ul- Haq as the Imam of the Central Masjid..i remeber going for Taraweeh every day at the masjid during ramadhan, and at the end of salah he would give a brief transaltion of the verses that were recited during tarawih both in Urdu and English....that was untill he was forced out in 2003 or 2002...its not the same without him doing his regular talks on a thursday evening :(...but mashaAllah he is such a good speaker...and without raising his voice he is able to instill the fear of hell and the desire of heaven into you, by using the Qur'an & Ahadith. MAy Allah reward him for all his efforts
Ameen
apologies to Jum'u@h....I called you sister...when in actual fact you are a brother...my deepest apologies!

Cause my bro went instead
But he didn't say much on what it was about - not very good at reiterating on what was said
:salams,
That was WICKED mashaAllah. SubhanAllah, I dindt know they were ulema that were coming. Ahmed Ali is a scholar?
Aywyas, the talk was alhamdulilah very beneficial. I was fearing that it would be very "modern" and "moderate" due to the title but as soon as I heard the speakers (with exeception of my iqbally) I knew it couldnt be that bad. It wasnt really on topic about being Muslim in UK, but general and dindt go on about integrating/comprimising deen alhamdulilah.
Sheikh Hatham Al Haddad: He was saying we should give more dawah in UK and stand up more politically and verbally. he ws at begging so ive forgotton most of his talk :(
Mr Sac: To be honest, I wasnt paying attention.
Ahmed Ali: MashaAllah, he is a very motivational speaker, also good grsp of the english language. He was syaing how it should be renamed to roles and responsibility in general. He talked about the massacres in the past, the crusaders, and how they can be compared to modern day. He was proepr getting hyped up and then he got cut off...
Sheikh Riyadul Haqq: MashaAllah, very softly spoken speaker and extremely articulate. Also I tihnk hes a master of hadith cos he was bussin out hadith left, right and centre. Talked about the genreal brotherhood and how we are one Ummah and his keyword in the talk was justice. How we should establish justice around the world.
The universe revolves around justice and Allah says in the Quran in Surah Rahman after syaing he raised the sky, he also implemented justice. And we should stand up for our brothers imprisoned unfairly around the world (hint hint guantanamo) cos Allah says in Surah Baqarah after syaing it is not just enough to be praying, fasting etc. but to aslo free the slaves..
And he finsiehd off with a beautiful hadith mashaAllah. Sahih (cant remmeber which sunan), narrated Ibn Masood (?) the Prophet SAW said [paraphrased]: "WHoever walks with a brother in the time of his need, it is better than 10 years of it'ikaaf." (actually, I'm not sure if it was walk with your brother or just help your brother..)
Allah huakbar. And just to note, if one spends one day in it'ikaaf, then Allah will move him away from hell by the span of the heavens and the Earth, thats for one day, imagine 10 years...and walking or attending a brtoher when he is in need is better than that.
Ok, all that was off top of my head so I apologise for any mistakes and apologise for not being able to go into more detail.
EDIT: Oh ye, another hadith (cant remember which speaker said it or reference, sorry); Prophet SAW said: When one helps his brother or conceals the sin of his brother, Allah will help him/conceal his sin on Day of Judgement. And of neglects his brother, Allah will neglect him in a time of need.
do you know if the talks were recorded brother?
