Spybot problem

Salam alikum :)

how is everyone over here? Hope everyone will be in best of health by grace of ALLAH.

im using Spybot and problem is that when i click on update button it search for updates and show me list of update availables but when i click on Start download update button it show "!bad checksum!" error and i could not complete downlaod.. can anyone help me why im getting this error.. ???

or is there any other good free Spyware remover program ... can anyone suggest.?

Assalam 3alaikum sister

Looks like this is an error due to a bad installation of the software. The only solution is to uninstall the software and install a clean version.

Another suggestion is to use a better anti-spyware software. Currently I am using the Microsoft Windows Defender (Beta version). I have had no problems whatsoever with spyware since using this sofware. You can download it from following site:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

I think Spybot is better than Windows Defender. WD is a microsoft product after all :rolleyes:. And also its only a beta version, should only use Betas if you're covered with spyware programs.

Pearl, have you created an entry in your firewall to 'allow' Spybot to access the network / internet?

Somethin' leads me to believe no connection is bein' established to d/l updates.

there are some network selection on the top of update spybot i selected different so now im able to update it.

SpyBot is better than other virus detection softwares. I will even rate it above Norton, McAfee, Pc Cillin, Sophos and the rest. I have checked them myself.....no good at all....SpyBot is the best when it comes to finding these silly worms and backdoor hijackers.

I had given a lot of ppl SpyBot and Alhamdulillah its been working very well for them. On the side, i also use Kerio Personal Firewall...the old one...very good FireWall...

you need to update your windows operating system before you can make updates to the spybot software. Complete an Automatic update (http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5) on your machine.
