View Full Version : How to Insult Your Religion With Your Car
I know this is an international forum, so this phenomenon may not exist everywhere, but it certainly does in the United States.
Today I was driving around Los Angeles, and on a particularly terrifying section of Interstate 5, I had an encounter with a very crazy driver. She was tailgating (following very close behind the cars in front of her), she was weaving from one lane to the next, at one point she cut directly in front of me, causing me to slam on my brakes.
It was at this point that I saw that on the back of her enormous full-size luxury gas-guzzling Cadillac Escalade she'd plastered a huge bumpersticker that said:
JESUS IS LORD!
Now, from the way this woman drives, I imagine she's caused many hundreds of people to convert to Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism, Satanism, to anything except Christianity.
Have you ever encountered a c-r-a-z-y driver who had an obviously Islamic symbol or his or her car? Or is this something that only Christians do?

I have never seen an Islam bumper sticker other than "I 'heart' Islam"
but I like some of the funny religious ones like my karma just ran over your dogma - or is it 'tother way around? The Fish with legs sign and others.
I loved your commentary tho' , I'll bet you are correct on her converts! glad I don't deal w too much traffic myself!

lol Cashew, that's funny although can be downright annoying too especially if youre a good driver who follow rules:D We have here all sort of symbols, from Islam - Little Khalifah on Board, which means, there are little children in the car, cute and always make me smile:D. The Christian symbol, Amitabha - I think that's Buddhist. But what I observe they are all good drivers unlike the woman u mentioned above:D.

Assalaam Alakium,
I live in a major city too and I see it ALL THE TIME! People flipping the finger, yelling profanity, blaring hardcore Rap music, cutting people off, etc
It's like they want to prove they are "cool" cuz they beleive in GOD, but it seems to stop right there.
Salaam,
SisterKhadija
A minister and a taxi driver arrived at the pearly gates together and St Peter met them. They walked along until they saw this huge, grand mansion. The taxi driver was ecstatic when St Peter said that this mansion was for him and he ran straight into his house.
St Peter and the minister walked around back still hearing the cab drivers excited yells. St Peter showed the minister a small cottage. It was clean and nice but certainly no mansion.
"Excuse me St peter," the minister said, "but I have been a man of god all my life. I ran my little church for over 40 years and this is my reward while a taxi driver get's a huge mansion?"
St Peter smiled and looked down at his hands and then looked back at the minister. "The rewards of heaven are based on the effect that you had on making people righteous," he said. "You see while you preached people slept. When he drove, people prayed."

Whenever I see someone driving badly, I bet myself its a woman, then I take a look to see who it is. And so far Ive always been right.

You probobly would not last long if you had an isalmic bumper sticker. You would be cursed by fellow muslims for "sticker-izing islam", you'd have non muslims trying to avoid you lest you car is a suicde vehicle, and you would have the police pulling you over for traffic stops every minute just to check you out.

Bumber stickers are not as much dangerous for traffic as the decorative articles hanging in the front mirror. Some people hang inscrptions written on CDs. They sometimes distract the attention of the drivers. They cause a lot of confusions especially while the driver is trying to make a turn.

It's about the mood in the USA now. I saw a similar one, "Quit whining and start the revolution" I like the bumper stickers on NorthernSun.com (no affiliation)
I like the "Don't believe everything you think" one the best today!
... and by the way, women drivers are fine, it's drivers with a hat on that are bad, I mean the old fashioned brim kind.

As of yet, I don't think I've encountered wild drivers with any religious symbol on their cars.
I used to have a bumper sticker that advocated an Islamic organization:
1-877-WHY-ISLAM
www.WhyIslam.org (http://www.WhyIslam.org)
One morning while I was stopped at a traffic light, a man who looked between 50 to 60 years old stuck his head out from his window in the lane next to me and just started swearing at me and using the most profane words!
I was shocked because I had never been the target of such dirty and offensive language before. It was so rude. Such abusive language was not allowed in our home so I was really taken aback.
And all this was before 9/11.
Anyways, I shared this story with my mother and upon hearing it, my father, who was also there, went into the garage and took the sticker off. :( If it was up to me, I would never have taken it off.
Some time later, I went and got two more Islamic stickers and hoped to convince my father that it was all right to display them. It didn't work. :( He still said no and somehow, I misplaced them and could not find them anywhere.
Oh well. If I can't display some sign of Islam right now, Insha'Allah, I will in the future. And I'll try not to be a crazy driver so as not to leave a bad impression of Muslims! :)

Hmmm...that's funny, because it's not just women who talk on their cellphones and drive. It's you men, too. And believe me, you men are terrible at multi-tasking.
Technically, men on average are better drivers than women. Years of evolution as hunters has given you superior eye/hand coordination and ability to judge distances between objects (whether moving or not)...so you can see how this has served you as far as driving is concerned. We women were too busy developing language (necessary for passing on information to the children we were raising) and we haven't stopped talking since. :)
However, ingrained in you men as well, (also necessary for hunting) is a willingness to take risks. This has not served you well in driving, and is the reason why men actually have more accidents then women. So in the end, it all evens out.
So you men might be better at parallel parking but you'll never win an arguement with one of us!
