For firewalls I strongly recommend getting a pirated copy of McAfee or Norton. If your familiar with torrents then go here: http://www.torrentspy.com/ And search for the programs I mentioned.

ZoneAlarm is good.
Norton Internet Security 2005 is good too... (better than 2006).

Registery Cleaner - don't fluff 'bout with the registery unless you know what you're doin'.

I use registery cleaners from:

TuneUp Utilities.
System Mechanic.

The above programs are good to run to clean your systems periodically from corrupt icons, invalid registery entries, invalid software entries, unneeded files and the rest that clogs up the sytem and slows it down.

Would not recommend pirated stuff at all!

But here is a Free Firewall i use, it works great,

Webroot Firewall, download here, http://www.webroot.com/consumer/downloads/
(click FREE trial)

its great because it lets you see every single program that tries to connect to the internet, you may be suprised how many bugs you already have on you system that connect to the net without your knowledge !

Forget firewalls and registry cleaners.

Get Linux.

If you can't be bothered to do that...follow the advice of the previous posters :p
