Do we always have to use the word Kaffir????

Can we not just say non-Muslim???

According to Wikpedia, Kaffir "is now used almost exclusively as an ethnic or racial slur".

Is it not time that we led by example if we want non-Muslims to respect us and our beliefs???

Read the Quran, tell me where you find the word Kafir or its derivities.. and how many times.... and if you dont ... then tell me its wrong..

Salam Aleikum,

I’m agreeing that we can’t call the non Moslem for the kafir. I seriously think it wrong and don’t understand the people who do it. I live in Europe and there is so many Moslem around me who say the word to the non-Moslem….
Maybe I should read the whole Koran al kareem one more time – I probably miss the word or then I just get everything wrong, hehe.

according to the Quran the word of Allah subhanna wa ta ala we are told in surah 109. Al-Kâfirûn (the disbelievers)

In the Name of Allâh, the Most
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

1. Say "O Al-Kâfirûn!"

2. "I worship not that which you worship,

3. "Nor will you worship that which I worship.

4. "And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping.

5. "Nor will you worship that which I worship.

6. "To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islâmic Monotheism)."

so there is nothing wrong with it, nor is it an insult, and its certianly not a racial or ethnic slur seeing as anyone of any race or ethnicity can be a kaffir, so call them kaffirs (as that is what they are) and the muslim is truthful in his speech. you could use some english words instead like disbeliever or infidel or something similar but kaffir is better because this is what Allah ta ala calls them.That goes for people of the book too because they too are kufar, because they disbelived after they believed in Allah ta ala. Perhaps they take it as an insult as they like to think of themselves as believers Allahu alam,but clearly they are not. hope this helps insha Allah. as salamu alaikum

You are right Allah calls the infidels or unbelievers kâfirûn in Arabic.

If you do not want to have that word translated into English, why then did you give the translation of the rest of sura 109 into English?
Allah did not reveal it in that language.

Remember that although you consider yourself as a believer you are an unbeliever to people of another religion.
