Assalamu alaikum

I don't know about your qualifications or experience, but have you thought about training to be a teacher of English as a second language, referred to as ESOL in the UK.

Many of the ESOL students are Muslims and generally the people who work in the field are religiously and culturally aware of Muslim traditions and sensitivities.

You'll find that you can be yourself and not have to compromise or 'water down' your deen.

The best initial qualification you can get is the CELTA or Trinity College Certificate in TESOL. These qualifications are recognised by the British Council and employers worldwide. I would advise you not to take any other qualifications, since a lot of these are not well - known or accepted by employers. And don't worry the courses are not long. Generally they last 4-6 weeks full - time and up to a year part - time. The only downside is that they are expensive, prices vary from £700+. I would advise you to do the certificate in a publicly funded college and not a private language school- They're also much cheaper.

Lewisham College in London have a subsidised price for students on benefits. It costs about approximately £150 or less. I think that other colleges also offer this sort of subsidy, but you need to ask.
