Khalid the spy was being questioned at police head quarters, "All right khalid" said the detective "where did u hide the secret document that you stole from the state department?"
Khalid replied "I was afraid to be caught with it, when i saw your man trailing me i ran into a library and hid it in a book, i knew you would have a hard time finding it in all those books, i put it between pages 123 and 124, but i was so intent on remembering those numbers that i forgot the name of the book and now i dont know where it is "
"YOU ARE LYING! " said the detective "tell me where u really put it "
QUESTION:..> how did the detective KNOW from what khalid said above, that he was INDEED LYING?
what gave him away ?
Note: i have not left anything out the story so the answer is there but r u clever enough to spot it ?
the cop knowing he was lying has nothing 2 do with facial expression , stuttering, pupils dialating etc.

because pages 123 and 124 are numbered on the either side of the same leaf of a book...hence impossible to hide something inbetween those page numbers..

The police or whatever arrive at a crime and theres the body, and theres a suicide note. The body been shot in the head (close range)...and theres also a tape-recorder....the detective presses play and all thats recorded is 'bang!!!'......khalas
but immediately, the dectective knows its MURDER not suicide

I don't know any riddles involving police but I do have a story to relate. Last week the local police station was broken into and the thief stole all of the fixtures in the bathroom. It's the only room in the station that doesn't have video cameras. At this time the police still have nothing to go on

yup....your good :up: ....the actual answer I heard is that the tape had been rewound, so obviously the murderer had to have done that...but your answer is equally correct actually.

Question: What was her motive for killing her sister?
It is a story about a girl.
While at the funeral of her own mother, she met a guy whom she did not know.
She thought this guy was amazing, so much her dream guy she believed him to be, that she fell in love with him there and then... A few days later, the girl killed her own sister.
Question: What is her motive in killing her sister?

Actually, that would be the mind of a detective, the mind of a killer would justify the action.
The answer would be that the man is her sister's husband.

The spy said two lies.
First: If he was worried about being caught with it, he would be protesting his innocence, not telling them where it is, especially if he was a spy ... amateurs don't live that long.
Second: He said he didn't know where he put it, which of course is wrong, he already said in the library. On top of that, we know that if he did hide it in the library between pages 123 and 124 (recto and verso), that the only place that would have occurred is in the rare books and manuscripts department which is kept under lock.
