Video Games!

Assalamualaikum,
i wanted to see how many of u support playing games. whenever my parents see me or my brother playing games, they start yelling and tell us to turn it off. specially my dad, he's too serious about it. he broke our PS1 couple years ago, bcz my lil bro played it too much...
so Is it ok to play vdo games?

Most computer games are a waste of time and bring you no benefit. Play em mininmally with friends in liesure time only id say. But if your on your own you can do better things with yourself.

When i was young, i use to get into trouble like you too... parents.. well their disapproval helped me beat gaming obsession n stuff. NOw i hardly play perhaps 1 hour in a week at most or if mates are round. Anway parents advice .... well its from Allah , parents are there to guide you and protecy you from things. So take their advice as much as you can in this respect.

As an individual- i love video games, i play my games a few days a week but NOT BEFORE making sure i done all my salat, dhikr etc, done my housework and the son is ok alhumdulillah.


As a parent- I dont let my son play to long or DAILY, If he goes on there, then its not b4, his salat is done (ok he is only 6 but he does it with me), i "ban" the video games at every opportunity as a punishemnt :p .


My advice to parents and others is- if u havent got a games console at the moment in your home, DONT GET IT! they are a waste of time im afraid :$
