I just wondered..

How many sisters would want their husbands to grow a full beard after marriage.. or even if you are already married.. do u want your husband to grow a full beard.??

Reasons will be appreciated..

I also want to know from brothers.. if your wife wanted you to wear grow a full beard would you? or would you rebel?

Yes this is the sunnah and they should be keeping a beard. Theres different views in dif madhahib but totally to shave the beard of, is not encouraged by anyone. They should be making effort to grow a decent beard  insha allah. Still, if they don't do it then u ask them nicely u dnt "order" them in that way, but use ur powers of persuasion and expain them why they should

Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu,

I hope I am not coming across as harsh, but my wife will have no say in the length of my beard. Mine will keep growing InshaAllah, just like the prophets, may Allah be pleased with them, grew theirs.

Concerning the opinions of the scholars and madhabs, here is a link explaining it further InshaAllah - http://ummah.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80852

There are authentic reports of Ibn Umar, Abu Hurairah and I think it was Ibn Abbaas radiyallahu 3unhum grabbing their beards by a fist length and cutting off everything more than that. But the actual sunnah of the prophet Mohammed sallallahu 3alayhi wassallam is to let it grow.

Allah knows best

Well I've always wanted my husband to have the beard and always will.. A beard is what makes a man.. because what makes a man is his adherence to the sunnah .. and that would be having the beard.. brothers with beards are more fitnah for sisters then brothers without them.. sorry that has to be said.. because brothers seem to think the only people that are fitnah are sisters..

Anyway.. a few things relating to the beard.. what about brothers who can't grow a beard properly..? like if it grows patchy.. what do they do..? .. and is it justifiable to cut it off for security..so one is not considered a 'terrorist'..?

Abu.Bakr
18-04-06, 11:57 AM
There's a hadith where a man could only grow 3 hairs and they grew long MashaAllah. One day he shaved them off and Mohammed sallallahu 3alayhi wassallam saw him at the masjid and looked at him with an upset look on his face. The man approached the rasool and asked him what was wrong? Than the rasool sallallahu 3alayhi wassallam said "I used to see the angels playing with your beard (3 hairs), now I don't see them anymore

.: Anna :.
18-04-06, 11:58 AM
I find this cut it off for security..so one is not considered a 'terrorist' reason so pathetic, I dnt think that is justifiable and it really bugs me when people use this excuse! Even more so when brothers are growing beards and other people are saying to them "cut ur beard, u will look like a terrorist. we dont need these beards, its only sunnah. we dnt have to do it bla bla bla" its so frustrating and annoying to hear!!!!!

It's sad, I had my grandma visit us from interstate yesterday and the first thing she said to me was "Go shave off your beard, you look like Osama bin Laden" I said alhamdulillah lol Telling a guy to shave his beard is like telling a girl to take off her hijaab. Astaghfirillah, what is there after truth but misguidance?

As salam ou lakoum

Well i would definatley encourage my husband to have a beard inshAllah....the longer the better!

My reasons are:

Firstly because it was the sunnah of our beloved Nabi Muahmmed (Sul Allah ou a3lahe wa salam)

Secondly so people can differntiate him from the muslims and the non-muslims.

And, thirdly in my opinion it is very attractive mashAllah.

I think it makes them look a lot more manly...i personally think bros without beards lok too feminine (lol...sorry)

I can't tell you the amount of times i have walked down the street being baffled trying to work out if some people are male or female, especially with guys getting highlights growing hair really long and extra tight jeans...lol

I think it is important to not judge our brothers who don't have a beard.

I know one brother who shaved his beard off because he didn't know it was haram to do so. I know another Hungarian revert brother MashaAllah who had a beard upto his belly button but came to class one day without one (he had to shave it off because of an operation).

Also, I know many beardless brothers who are very practising MashaAllah. They fulfil all their prayers, fasting, know heaps of Quran mashaAllah, but their weakness is the beard. That does not make them a bad Muslim at all, it might just mean they need some more time or motivation. Make dua for them InshaAllah and never judge someone without knowing the full circumstances behind him and even then, keep judgments to yourself InshaAllah because no one knows what is in our hearts but Allah

AS Yusuf Estes stated once: The job is not to grow the beard..tht is in Allahs hands..either grows well..or just on the chin like some brothers..or patchy..our job is to not cut it and let it grow to above one fist and keep it nice and tidy inshaAllah.

With the security thing, Sis these are all tests from Allah, Sahabah RA got persecuted and remained steadfast, if pleasing other people and making them feel more comfortable with us means shaving the beard and destroying an act which nabi saw ordered on men and displeasing Allah, then go ahead...but it sure has hell goes to show where our priorities are..mankind or Allah.

Beard doesnt = piety, but by following the sunnah of the prophet :saw: then it will help a brother become more pious.

As for me, yes i prefer beards. i prefer any sunnah of the prophet :saw: and any command Allah has commanded.
I dont mind the length of the beard, i know there is ikhtilaaf on a fist length so that is the minimum i wouldnt mind, but no way dirty shaven.

Im not a huge fan of the very long ones to be honest, because largely, they are difficult to keep tidy anyway.

The fact that the first people on earth..yes...EARTH, to be clean shaven...were the SODOMITES,the people of Lut (alaihis Salam)...would have been enough for me to grow Grow GROW...

But having a big beard (it's getting bigger,it just grows slow) is totally cool...(Alhumdulilah)
I can keep a pen in it which save putting it behind my ear...I can even hide my stylus (little pen thingy for my phone) so that no one can see it's even there...

I find myself stroking it a lot,I think I find it relaxing...
My brother always mocks me when I'm talking to him and I start to stroke my beard by stroking his hairless chin (he is beardless that's by choice that's why)

I kinda twisted it into makeshift platts once too...I looked like a pirate...
(still got the pic by broinlaw took on his phone)

NO MATTER what length a beard should be kept tidy and CLEAN...there are no excuses for poor hygiene...

and i pray the characteristics of a true muslim come along with it. no point having a beard yet the brother is a flirt or corrupt (examples)

my reasons for wanting him to have one?

i would want him to be seated closest to rasoululaah scw in the next life, the closest sitting by him are those whom followed him to the letter.

my second reason, is for my own self benefit, u see i want to be able to remember muhammed scw when ever i look at my husband, this will encourage me to be good.

if he refuses to grow the beard, i wont freak out, my injunction is take a brother with a good heart and whom prays his salat then polish him up :_)

the power of a woman can accomplish the rest with ALLAHs mercy. men tend to listen when u are patient, and when they see you yourself are upright

after all behind every great man there is a great woman no?

peace be upon those whom follow the guidance

erm.. well if he was good in deen.. i'd tell him to grow it first then I'd marry him.. OR.. I would at least like to see some hints that he is growing it..

To be honest I don't judge brothers by their beard anymore.. in terms of how good they are in the deen.. this is because my eyes have been opened up to the world of hoax.. because of something that happened to a sister I know..

So really to judge a man by the length of his beard is naiive.. one MUST look at his character and MUST find out exactly HOW GOOD he is in his deen.. then if he doesnt have a beard you can push him to do so.. even if that is after marriage..

If his heart is in the right place the outward can easily be altered according to what pleases you.. i.e the beard. But if he has a beard but no substance.. then.. whats the point?

Yeh true UR yusra........

Beard does'nt mean anything, outside a veneer of piety, on the inside filthy as Crap. I've learnt that as well.
Many brothers wear beard and lonk kurtas and thawb but through experience with them they are the dirtiest and most dishonest people on the earth.

1 example......today i was standing at the bus stop and a pakistani girl was waiting for the bus as well. Then this old pakistani guy with full beard and the works comes and stands right up close next to her. I could tell she was uncomfortable, i was gonna do some'at but thought better of it.

The bus came, the guy motions for the girl to get on in his false gentlemen way, whilst leering at her, the girl does'nt cuz she was waiting for a next bus, so was i. Then this P*** has to get on and look like a fool cuz he thought this girl was gonna on the same bus as well.

an unbearded jimm.

I dont base piety on the beard, i wouldnt base piety on the length of the beard anyway.
However, the beard is fardh and i wouldnt like to marry a brother without a beard, and i dont think my family would agree to it either unless he had a valid reason.
so long as he has hair on his face, im down with that
