Mashallah they are both very special in their own right, but I had to go with Makkah. Subhanallah it cannot be described with my petty words...indeed Allah (swt) has described it for us.....

'Verily, the first House of worship appointed for mankind was that at Makkah, full of blessing...& a guidance for Al-Alamin (mankind and jinn).....' (3:96) :inlove:

I just had a brain wave :embar: ....

I forgot this....the Prophet (saw) did say that if you could choose to die in any city, let it be Madinah....amongst all the other ahadith the Prophet (saw) told us about the people who live in Madinah....

Ahh man......I dont like this question....lol.....

Lol Nawar.

I chose Madinah. Dont know why cuz i have never been to either places but subhan Allah! The Prophet :saw: chose to stay in Madinah after Fath of Makkah and plus so many of the early Islamic history is in Madinah :inlove: Insha Allah i hope to go there one day.

Madinah... Less crowded.. Less Commercial...

I've lived in Makkah before... I dunno... Between work and Haram.. the crowd... I think it'd just be better in Madinah...

Too bad I'm living in Riyadh... Alhamdulillah 'Alaa Kulli Haal.. :D

At the same time, theres something special about that hustle and bustle buzz of Makkah..........No doubt... Even the Prophet :saws2: wanted to go back to Makkah.. In fact he longed for Makkah.. but still the fact that sins double is scary...

What do you mean by "sins double"?

having been to hajj.. mecca seems so busy and untidy but the actuall masjid is no nice to be inside. so peacefull to stare at the kabaa.
medinah seemed very clean calm.. and peacefull. but i met a indian muslim there..
he said he was living in the best city in the world(medinah) but the people were so unkind.. they treat other muslims as second class citizens.. he wanted me to help him out of there..
he was a professional guy working for a company... ...

if the arab people were not so nationalistic and looked down on other msulims.. it would be so good..
but im sure not all are like that

Ermmm...yeh, can you check that. Im pretty sure one sin amounts only to one sin.........wherever you are. This is the mercy of Allah (swt).

But when is comes to reward :inlove:....multiplied by 100,000 for praying a salat in the haram as opposed to one not in the haram :inlove:.......

The poll is still going one way....lol

Medinah seems peaceful and it has its own status but by far it CANNOT touch Makkah.

If the best of creation chose Madina Munawarah to be his home, then would we also not follow his judgement? with all the wisdom that comes from him in that decision?

Such questions should not be asked because it creates Fitnah in the heart of the persons who do not know the reason. If a person choses one city over the other, and the reason is not sound Islamically they can be put in sin. Hence these questions should not be asked.

Especially when the matter was settled by the Holy Prophet,as he with his wisdom having access to both cities chose to stay in Madina Munawarah. We follow his example and the example of his Sahaba, and most of them remained in Madina Munawarah.

Akhee, I agree. Yet there is no right or wrong answer...there is no halal or haraam in this issue. Everyone here has said that both are amazing in their own right, and special. I think some people's answers may be based on just personal experiences and attachments after visiting these places. Agreed, the question is a bit difficult to answer.

Ofcourse Madinah is from the sunnah, no doubt, no dispute. But Makkah was also dear to the Prophet (saw)....when he left Makkah, the Prophet (saw) said to Makkah that 'had your people not turned me out, I would not have left you'....and it has a long history with Ibrahim (as) etc...

Anyway, my answer was naively based on a personal attachment and experience...as most people only visit these places for a limited time.

But khayr, I am in no way denying the sunnah. Madinah all the way ....

yup true true, but that doesn't mean it is better than Mekkah.. The place of God's House, with respect to the prophet.. he had all right to go there and stay Makkah wasn't all gud at that time. But mashallah is noow.

I never went to neither

BUT

i would live in Mecca cuz its closer to make hajj, spend Ramadan there and pray everyday there. Its just a different spirit. I am sure Medina would be really nice and friendly to but i guess ill settle for Mecca. Well actually why not somewhere between :inlove:

I would not be able to choose, every time I went Umrah and Hajj I was in tears every time I felt each of these blessed places even thou I went back to them in the same trip. I would say for me this would be the most difficult decision I would ever have to make if it ever became reality.

It's very surprising that many ppl have chosen Madinah..?? Everyone I asked here(my friends) said Makkah. hmm.. is it just because Muhammed(saws) chose it. But you know there is reasons why he chose it, and if there is a better reason why not to choose makkah(so I could be closer to God's house) then tell me..??

Subhan'Allah..

Remember the duah that Muhammad (SAW) made asking Allah (SWT) to make Madinah as beloved as Makkah to the people and if not that then to make it even more beloved..

I've heard that one feels immense peace when inside the prophet (saw)'s masjid, and they feel a spiritual high. I would like to experience that. I'm sure that Masjid-al-Haram is the best place a Muslim can worship Allah, but there's just something about Medinah that calls to me. Unfortunately I can't afford to live there lol
