SubhanAllah if we really want to show our love for the Prophet :saw: then we should be following his sunnah in every sense of the word.

Allah (swt) says in the Quran:

Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Quran and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (3:31)

In one hadith the Prophet :saw: said:“All of my ummah will enter Paradise except those who refuse.” They said: “O Messenger of Allaah, who would refuse?” He said: “Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise and whoever disobeys me has refused.”

Furthermore we do not need to single out one day in the whole year to celebrate his birthday and supplicate for him or send salams to him. We should be doing that everyday of every week of every month of every year. If we want to have any hope in entering Jannah then we should be imitating the sunnah of the Prophet :saw: in our lives.

SubhanAllah! Obedience to parents does not come before the obedience to Allah and His messenger- obedience is in that which is good only- (good meaning adheres to the Qur'an and Sunnah)

We are supposed to love Allah and His Messenger more than anyone/thing, so how can we obey our parents over Allah and His messenger when we claim to love them more-

You become a true believer when your love for Allah and
His Messenger becomes greater than anything else."

There is a saying: imitation is the best form of praise-

One may feel that because it is Sunnah, it is not an obligation but they forget that Allah says:

Say: "If you do love Allah follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins for Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful."
