Interesting read :) I thought I'd add some tafsir of the Quran by ibn Kathir which would also shed light on the subject insha-Allah.

The following link [while interpreting the Quran] describes how a man at the time of the Prophet [peace be upon him] became a Muslim, later dis-believed, then later re-embraced Islam.
