ASALAMUALIKUM WR WB BROS N SIS,
I have a question.... Many muslims when they stand up for prayers
annoying thoughts start coming to their minds ...Some times these
thoughts r so strong that inspite of one's struggle to get its attention
towards his/her prayer but fails...We all know very well that this is from
shaitan who intends to distract us from prayers...MY QUESTION IS
THAT IS THIS IS DUE TO WEAKNESS OF EMAN? AND I WANT TO
KNOW THAT DOES SHAITAN ONLY TARGETS MUSLIM WHO IS
WEAK IN FAITH AND BAD PERSON OR TARGETS THOSE WHO R
STRONG IN FAITH AND R GOOD.... Plz can anyone ans it...
JAZAKALLAH KHAIR.....
wen this happens to me i usually recite "auzo o billahi mina shaitaan nirajeem"
i take refuge in allah from the accursed shaitaan
it usually does the trick.
shaitaan, targets even the people with the best of imaan,i.e. wen u do something good in allah's eyes, shaitaan will do everything to turn u to the wrong path or to make u do bad things .The kinda people who are not targeted by shaitaan, are people who have no imaan, are blind to wat their relgion asks of them, are blind to the true path.
Thats why u usually see for example kaafir, with not a care in the world free to do wat they want, no fights with shaitaan, why? becos they are doing things shaitaans wants them to, so he doesnt need to bother them, shaitaan bothers those that do good in the way of allah swt.
may allah swt protect us from the accursed shaitaan.Ameen

Title: Distraction during salaat (prayer) by shaitan
Home > Jurisprudence and Islamic Rulings > Acts of Worship > Prayer > Forgetfulness During Prayer >
Question:
If a person praying experiences insinuating thoughts from Shaitan (Satan) in his salaat, causing him problems in reciting Quran, and resulting in bad or evil thoughts, and making him doubt the number of completed rakaat (iterations), what should he do?
Answer:
This happened to one of the companions of the prophet (sahabah) whose name is Uthman Bin Abi Al-Aas, (may Allah be pleased with him), so he came complaining to the Prophethttp://www.islam-qa.com/images/saws.gif (peace be upon him), and he said: "The Shaitan comes between me and my salat and causes me problems with my recitation." So the Messenger of Allah,http://www.islam-qa.com/images/saws.gif (peace be upon him), said: "That is a shaitan called Khanzab, so if you feel his presence, seek refuge in Allah and blow a mist to your left three times." He said: "I applied this advice and Allah has rid me off him."1 This hadith includes two ways to get rid off the shaitan of salat. The first is asking refuge in Allah from the shaitan's evil by pronouncing the words of seeking refuge and this is OK in this case. And the second: blowing with mist to the left three times. This is basically blowing air in a similar manner to spitting, but with a minute mist of saliva, on the condition that this does not disturb or bother the person next to him, nor make the masjid dirty.

MuslimahPearl, I can give u tips on how 2 avoid distractions in ur prayer.
Remember these 3: State of ur mind, state of ur body & place of prayer.
OK first tip: State of ur mind. Remember whom your standing in front of. The Prophet (saw) advised 2 Abu Dhar, "Worship Allah as if u can see Him for even though u do not see Him surely He sees you."
Pray in such a way as if it were ur last prayer. At the time of salat, prepare urself 2 control the wandering mind. The minute it begins 2 move from the prayer, refocus; recapture the mind 2 where it belongs. Continue 2 do this until full concentration is placed on the worship.
I think the reason why the annoying thoughts start coming 2 ur mind is becos your not concentrating while reciting. Think bout the meaning of the Arabic prayer.
OK tip no 2: Do not pray on an empty stomach, or at a time wen u r rushed or preoccupied with other matters. And plz do not pray wen your in the state of tiredness, dizziness & sleepy.
Last tip: Place of prayer. Pray in a quiet place free from noise. Many of the pious devotees used 2 perform their salat in small room barely large enough for worshipping to prevent diversion.
But the most important than all these is the presence of the heart in ur prayer i.e. to perform it with an attentive heart. The heart’s presence is a must in every single act in prayer & that is the only way 2 achieve the merits hidden in this great obligation.
This will take patience & gradual training. :insha: u will achieve :)
Sallaam
this is what helps me..........make sure you concentrate when you do whudu..ie...why are you cleansing yourself-because you are going to pray to the almighty........make sure the place where you pray is clean......say surah Iklhas a few times and blow around you.....ie left,right-blow on your hands and rub over your face......another good way i use to concentrate is i pray in the dark........and remember you have to pray to Allah as if you are seeing Him even though you cant see him He is watching you....it might be scary at first praying in the dark but you get used to it and nothing around you distracts you................ws

Aslam oaliakum.
Well all the approaches presented by friends here are very good and one should practice these.
i just give one approach.
If you are saying your prayer in 10 minutes then try spend 20 minutes. After reading each sentence ,hold and keep in mind what you just said.
important: you give one punch to shaitan he will give two punches to you,
one can get rid, not completly but almost,,if one posses a very high character.purify yourself spritually and physically.
Allah is the almighty one can't become closer to him untill and unless he has a very strong character.
