Ibn Salmaan says that he heard one of the Sahabah of our Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) narrating, " When we had won the battle of khayber, we began to buy and sell among ourselves the booty that had fallen to our lot. One of us came and said 'O Rasoolullaah (p.b.u.h.), no one else has earned so much profit as I have obtained in today's trade.' How much did you earn?' asked rasoolullaah (p.b.u.h.). He replied, ' I kept selling and buying till I earned a net profit of three hundred ooqiya of silver.' Rasoolullaah (p.b.u.h.) said, ' Shall I inform you of something better than that?' He exclaimed, ' Do tell me, O rasool of Allah.' Rasoolullaah (p.b.u.h.) remarked, ' Two Raka'as Nafl after obligatory salah.' "

Three hundred ooqiya of silver come to about thirty six and a half kgs. According to the Prophet (p.b.u.h.), the perishable gain of this world stands no comparison with the everlasting gain of the Aakhirah (judgement day). Our life will be pleasant and worth living if we develop our Eemaan (faith)to an extent where two Raka'as of salah, in our sight, are more valuable than all the riches of this world. Salah is really a great treasure and that is why the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) has called it " the comfort of His eyes " and has enjoined its observance right upto His last breath. Ummu Salamah (May Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the last words of the Prophet (p.b.u.h.), which he could hardly utter, were about taking care of the salah and kindness towards the slaves.

May Allah guide us all. Allah Hafiz.

that works out as more than £13 k in by todays standards...well roughly cos i only quickly checked the price of silver...

But the point is that we will regret soooo much not investing our time in something that isn't that hard for us to do but yet we gain so much from it in the long run...
Just because we don't see the fruits of our labour in the near future, does that really mean we should neglect putting into the bank of our good deeds something that might just tip the scales in our favour and Allah ta'ala in His mercy would grant us jannah

Actually, it comes to about 1.2 million USD  (i think)

To earn that in one battle would be awesome

Completely irrelevant...but how does trading after a battle work?? I thought they all take all the spoils and give it to the ameer, who distributes it among the fighters accordingly? How would you trade among yourselves?
