Also, in sweets like Skittles- I don't think we can eat the red ones; because the ingredient used (I forget the E number  ) is crushed beetles. :vomit:

Yeah, it aint really worth looking with microscopes for the smallest molecul, since if youd do so, you would find that anything and everything is haram, besides things are haram because they are bad for the health and not good for the person, but in trace amounts like that they have no effect really.
For example ordinary milk has a small amount alchohol in it, but we all drink it anyway.

But if you really want to stay away from them, then dont eat the following: all forms of meat, anything that is baked (pastery), anything that contains sugar and so on.

oh...well how do we know its in there then? cos if someone in the factory saw that happen...shouldnt they take that chocolate bar & chuck that one out??
and in that case...why does it happen to some brands rather than others, and why are some of them classified as "vegetarian"
if its a mistake...im suprised they would put it in the ingrediants

I dont get it  :banghead:

It isnt an ingridient, since it isnt put into it.
The "ingridient" adds itself into it.

oh ok...

yeah...if u are in doubt as to whether there is a haram ingrediant in food, u are actually allowed 2 eat it innit?? i think I read that somewhere in relation to biscuits that used to say "and/ or lard" on the packet or summat...

but still.... if something does have ded insects in it...kinda does put u off eating it :vomit:

Kohr if they just add themselves into it...how come they have an E number for it? like the crushes beetles?

30-04-04, 05:53 PM
Well, thats a color ingriedient.
But like I said, nowadays you wouldnt even imagine what they use to make things, but think of it this way: now this insect thing is gross, but think of it, before you knew about it did you find anything wrong, just because it was insecty didnt mean it wasnt good.

Ignorance is a bliss as they say.

Any product made from a product grown in a field or any proceced food has some insects in it and insect eggs/larva. So do not worry about it. It is part of life. This includes chocolate, flour, grains, or most other products you can think of. It is just part of the natural process.

White chocolate is just: sugar and cocoa butter.

Cocoa butter is very high in fat. The worst for gaining waight.

On the good side: white chocolate, it contain very little stimulants.

So you don`t get "hiper".

Well readers and listners,

What is forbidden and What is not is from the words of Allah spoken 1400 years ago. Allah is eternal and all knowing.

i hav a story to tell.

A pious muslim bought a flesh of swine and asked his wife to make it halal. The wife got furious at his behaviour and told him off that flesh of swine is haram. The man kept quiet. The annoyed wife threw the flesh away. When she came back she saw lots of chickens eating the thrown flesh of swine. Soon the flesh disappeared in the chickens' stomach's. When the husband call for lunch , she got hold of a chicken and slaughtered it for lunch.

When the husband asked what happen to the flesh of swine. She said he had eaten the chicken which ate the flesh.

The pious man got furious now!!!!

my mum knows someone who washes haram meat in the sink and reads surah fatihah over it to make it "halal".

I asked my quranic teacher if this is allowed and he retorted: "If you got a bag sh*t, and u wash that bag of sh*t in the sink, and u read surah fatihah while your washing the sh*t, do u think the sh*t is going to be halal?"

lol.

What whent rong Anna? Mine came out really good.

Couse, the recipe say to bake for 5-6 minute, mine took 14 minute.

The problem with microwave baking cake is, if its over baking it will be to dry. If is under baking it will come out undercooked.

You have to check often.

It is hot here in Florida, and i don`t use hair conditioning often. So, i try to not use the regular oven for cooking. So, i was looking some baking book and i sow this recipe and i thought i`ll try.

I don`t like microwave for cooking anything. I do use for worm up food.

You have to check often.

It is hot here in Florida, and i don`t use hair conditioning often. So, i try to not use the regular oven for cooking. So, i was looking some baking book and i sow this recipe and i thought i`ll try.

I don`t like microwave for cooking anything. I do use for worm up food.

for some reason it went reeeeally hard and stuck to the plate
i hadda chuck it all in the bin... dunno why it did that, cos i just followed the recipe

Ok, ok lol- this is how the smarty pants who thought them up did it. :D

When choc bars are made, they go through a final process which is the shaping of the bar, so all the shavings of chocolate than used to fall to the floor and be swept away, were evidently profit going down the bin.

So using a group of brains, they decided to instead keep the shavings of chocs, melt them down- stick 'em in a gold pretty wrapper and advertise them as being *exquisite* *expensive*and *exclusive* :D

The advertising makes you think you are eating quality- in reality you're eating leftovers. :p

Easy money- and all from scraps. :)

Reminds me of something SMITHS crisps did in the 90s (now known as Walkers Crisps), When SMITH released SMITHS jacket Crisps, charging u more then the normal crisp - but in reality it cost then less as it was the same crisp but they didnt have to waste time and money in peeling the potatos but left them on (giving a jacket edge effect and taste).

Halaal Sweets
<hr style="color: rgb(209, 209, 225);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> Salaam.

Here in the UK there is a company now manufacturing jelly sweets, utilising gelatine from halaal slaughtered cattle, to produce very nice tasting end line jelly sweets, the company is called Happy Confectionery Ltd and is based in birmingham, i have seen them at two or three islamic events and melas, and their advertising has started quite extensively around birmingham.. There was even an article on their sweets and products in the Awam newspaper. Their range is quite comprehensive, and they have 24 lines currently.

Give them a try.
Their website isn't yet operational as they have only been trading for a month or so, but you can see it once its up at: www.happycl.com (http://www.happycl.com/)

hope this helps.

It is my understanding that Kosher foods are halal.
If you want to be sure chocolate or any food for that matter is not haram, you can buy kosher food.Kosher food cannot contain animal products. As far as insects go, as has been mentioned on this thread whenever food is prepared there will always be insects around and sometimes they can get into the product. This is inevitable no matter what food you buy...goes with the territory unfortunately.
It must be certified as kosher though. These products have labels on them to show that they are kosher (halal).I don't know what the symbols are in the US or UK but in canada there are several.
1)U...with a circle around it.
2) COR
3) K
If the symbol is followed by a D,then it is dairy or was prepared in a dairy kitchen.
If it says PARVE,then it contains no dairy.

Baby milk...

http://www.ibfan.org/english/issue/overview01.html

it's worth reading up on this one to see what it actually does to the babies, and why it's so dangerous. Note: for reasons that the article discusses, the dangers do not exist in affluent parents, (having clean water to mix the formula in is one of many reasons)

Kosher foods are usually halal, however wine is kosher and obviously that's not halal, so you need to check the ingredients of kosher food for alcohol.

Also there's another issue with the way the animals are slaughtered that some scholars say kosher meat isn't halal.

Kosher foods are usually halal, however wine is kosher and obviously that's not halal, so you need to check the ingredients of kosher food for alcohol. You're right, I forgot about the alcohol being haram, sorry.

Also there's another issue with the way the animals are slaughtered that some scholars say kosher meat isn't halal.Wasn't aware of that either.Kosher slaughter is accepted as halal by muslims here to my knowledge.
If kosher slaughter is considered haram, do you know what the reason would be? There are groups trying to ban kosher slaughter on the basis of it being more painful to the animal than the Bolt method used in non -kosher slaughter.
And usually both jewish groups and muslim groups get together to fight the proposed ban.
Also..if it is considered haram by some scholars, what form of slaughter do they allow? Or is there something else besides the slaughter that is considered haram?
This is interesting.
Thanks.

It's not the method of killing but the way the meat is blessed. In halal slaughter, you pronounce the name of Allah over every animal as you kill it, and also the other animals cannot witness the slaughter. AFAIK the Jews don't do it quite like this. (could be wrong though)

Kosher slaughter does not involve saying G-d's name nor is there a prohibition of the other animals seeing it.
History is more knowledgable than I and he may correct me but I have never heard of that practice.
Anyway that should mean that kosher meat is haram, wouldn't it? And yet I have heard that muslims do eat kosher meat.
Now I am really confused.

Sorry but the article contains many major errors...
Gelatin is NOT kosher when made from pigs. It's shocking that anyone writing an article on kashrut would know so little about Kashrut.
Not all cheeses are kosher
Not all wines are kosher.
These are basic to kashruth....this slipshod article is not even close to being accurate.
I know you meant well...but whoever wrote this article should do some research and then do a re-write.

1. The subsidiary companies are listed after the name of the product e.g. Ernest Jackson, Barker and Dobson, Cadbury World, Lion Confectionery, Halls etc.

2. Being such a huge list, mistakes do happen, so be prudent and check the ingredient for obvious haraam ingredients like gelatine, cochineal etc.

3. All queries relating to this list must be referred back to the Foodguide and not to Cadbury's.

it's halal, according to this
http://www.gmwa.org.uk/foodguide2/viewquestion.php?foodqid=159&catID=2&compID=2

but make sure its manufactured in the uk, a lot of the bounties (especially in small shops) are imported stock.

i suggest that anyof you who has some sense here to not take the email as it is. Actually go to the shop and check the ingredients of the chocolate bar, and see if it checks out with the list. THen by all means declare whatever you want. :D

Is it just me or does that link, and most others from the foodguide page not actually have any information on it at all?

For the past 6 months I've been checking that site and those links always give me a page of headings with no text. If it works for anyone I'd be much obliged if you'd copy and paste the text for me.

nooooooooo sis don't! ferraro roche are soooo lovely :inlove: don't spoil it

Chill, there's a new cheap version of it...it's called DIAMONDS. You can find em in Asian Shops ;)

Hardly difference in taste...only the Diamond ones are less crispy. :p
