This post is combining several sticky threads from this forum (written by various mods)

What is the purpose of this forum?

This forum has been created so users can post anonymously.

So if users are have problems or are shy to ask sensitive questions publically, they can use this facility. Please specify if you wish your thread to be moved to the private brothers or sisters forum.

All threads/posts (registered and non-registered users) will be subject to moderation before they are visible. Silly and irrelevant threads/posts will not be approved.

PLEASE NOTE: You must log out first in order to post anonymously.

What about directly or indirectly backbiting someone? i.e if your problem is say wiht a member of your family, friend, anyone, i think we should be careful about not backbiting someone.

If someone has a problem and mentions names or refers to someone in a way that he/she can be recognised, then it would be considered as backbiting. In any case, ALL posts will be moderated.

Where has my post gone? I tried to post but they're not showing up!

As salaam alikum brothers and sisters,

The anonymous/counselling forum is moderated, that means that any post or reply will not be visible until a moderator has come in here and approved it.

This is because this forum is for people to ask questions or ask for advice for problems anonymously, and for other users on the forum to answer those questions and give advice from an Islamic perspective. (PLEASE NOTE: This is not a substitute for consulting a scholar, do not assume that anyone who posts here is an expert in Islamic law.)

In order to prevent misuse, e.g. posts making fun of peoples problems, all posts have to be approved by moderators.

Whilst we check in here on a regular basis, we are not online all the time so it may take a while for your posts to appear. Please do not repost repeatedly, your posts are not lost, they are just hidden for the time being.

Why isn't a particular thread in the brothers/sisters forum?

On a few threads that deal with very sensitive issues, people posting have asked why the threads are not being discussed in the private brothers/sisters areas of the forum.

Of course such topics are best dealt with in the brothers or sisters area of the forum. However, we have to keep those areas secure and we vet users very carefully before granting access. Unfortunately there are decietful perverts on the internet. In light of this it is impossible to allow anonymous or new users of the forum to have access to the brothers or sisters areas. Therefore, if someone needs to discuss very sensitive issues anonymously in this forum, we allow it here regardless of it being a mixed environment as there is no alternative.

Users of the forum do not need to click on any post that they do not wish to read, and can use the back button on their browser if they realise a post is not something they wish to read. Also please remember that every post on this forum is moderated, any post that is inappropriate will be deleted whilst it is invisible.

Thank you for your time and may Allah reward you for all your efforts to help your brothers and sisters who need Islamic advice.
