though I've read many, I'm always interested in titles of books that are about Islam, both the history, and deen, anything actually. But I find it difficult to find them in english. If anyone knows anything about good books that have been translated, please I would appreciate the title and author. I live in the usa, and it's not easy to get them, unless you order them, and nearly impossible without a title :-> shukran

I've got an internet buddy who has a cool website...
On this Book Bits (http://islambits.homestead.com/goodbooks.html) page she has a list of books with links so you can read them online. Some you can download.
I hope that helps.

Assalamualiakum

I could mention one title which I recently read. In fact I was looking for the book for the last 2 years or so. Orginally it was printed perhaps in 1952. Recently it was reprinted in India. It was the journal of Ibn Jubayr who hapened to be the secretary of the Governor of Granada, Spain in the year 1180 AD. He took a journey from Spain to perform Haj in 1183 and it took him 2 eyars to return after performing Haj. The book was naturally written in Arabic and was translated English in I think 1952 or so by Roland Broadhurst. During the period of Ibn Jubayr, Salahuddin Ayubi was fighting the crusaders.
I think you will enjoy it. At least I did. If I remember it correctly it costed around $ 15 or so. I bought it from

Yasminah, one of the best-known books conerning ancient Arabian life must be Mika Waltari's Sinuhe, the Egyptian. It is also sold as The Egyptian.

Check the net for reviews. The book should be available just about everywhere.
