Qiwama- What does this word mean to you?

the responsibility of the man to look after the woman (his wife, his mother, his unmarried sister) and this responsibility is conditioned and its condition is not the gender but the man ability to take this responsibility.....so it is not a merit but a burden for the man

or at least that's what i understood from the writing of Sayd Qutb

In marriage each spouse has rights over one another. What rights do women have over men, and what rights do men have over women? What are the conditions of having these rights?

Is this debate about what qiwama means going to lead to discussion regarding Surah 4:34?

If so, take it to Muslim Forum.
