How about in the section where it says our location and post count and stuff like that, make an extra one to say if we are male or female. On other boards that I go to most people pick either very feminine or masculine avatars so it's fairly easy to tell but that often isn't the case here. I am afraid of offending some of the members by referring to them as male when they are female or vice versa.

Oh yeah, might I also suggest a heading of muslim or non muslims. I see a lot of people asking new members and this could also save some confusion.

No worries...get to it when you can. Sunniforums has both of those features...maybe you can see how they do it there and make it work here

.
I like the idea, eg. (new muslim, senior muslim)
I've came across many nonmuslims answering "Muslim" questions for nonmuslims.
This can confuse new comers...:(
Inplace of showing "senior member" . . .it would be more beneficial.

:salams,

I don't tihnk the male/femal thing is such a good idea, not sure why.

However, I' all for the Muslim/Muslimah/Non Muslim idea, think that would be great inshaAllah.

Although can't people just lie, like some guy could say he is a Muslim but come out with riduculous views just to give a bad representation of Islam? Though I guess that could happen now even without that thing, ah well.

K@M why not? :S

i think male/female is an excellent many times i get confused with who is a girl and who is a guy, and then when these 'girlguys' gets access to the sisters forum im like  what is a brother doing here :p.
And muslim/non-muslim is good too so we know who to avoid :p

K@M why not? :S

Not too sure to be honest, just reckon it will increase the amount of pervs. Ah, Allahu Alim. Just a feeling. I rekcon girls should just be feminine so you can tell and males shuld be masculine, what kind of a guy has a girly avatar (:embar:)

*is still wondering how he got mistaken to be a sister numerous times*

yah ill prolly get around to that soon

im currently well in the process of developing this Ticker applicaitn where whilst your working each time a new thread appears or whatever then it flashes on your Desktop without you haveing to refresh ummah all the time its gonna be an application

im working on it for MPADC.com and imeg.org but i cud do a seperate one for ummah aswell so whilst ur working if u want alert for new threads/posts from a particular forum it will flash up and tick on ya desktop.just like BBC alerts and all :)

I think the M/F is a good idea - but muslim/non-muslim is likely to create an 'us & them' atmosphere (more than there is currently).

Na'am I also support the gender distiction icon suggestions, also the Muslim and non-Muslim idea, furthermore I would suggest a Mod/ Admin icon thereby identifying the in charges to all concerned so everybody will be clear which members to approach if in trouble or in need insha'allah.

you could always have a 'not telling' option.

admin dude, if youre having trouble with adding a gender flag, ask the bros at SF, they can prolly give you the full code for it.

Yeh that would be good so it doesnt cause confussion and save time.

Na'am more for the benefit of the newbie brothers and sisters rather than us really but insha'allah it would help them I'm sure.
