Does Islam forbid people from hearing each others words? Chat is not like meeting on the street face to face. It's about as mixed as men and women both posting on the message boards. So if chat is forbidden then the ummah board would be too
I have also seen a sisters board there for those that need to discuss female issues.

if it is simply promting mixing of the opposite genders then it is haram if pple talk abt issues other than islam then it is HARAm

and yaa as far as the forum is concerned its an "islamic" forum and if u see there are reminders posted that TALK ABOUT ONLY OF ISLAM

and as far as the street thing is coalking to a ghair mehrem conncerned nope talkin to a ghair mehrem ( stranger) not allowed only is necesseity and once agan gaze shud be lower

Women used to dicuss abt their issues wid rasool Allah (SAW) tooo but all is inshaAllah so we cud do rite follow islam in other words...

The one thing that I thought was cool about the chat room is that there are random verses from the quran that pop up on the screen.

Whenever I was in there and someone else was on it was a sort of Q&A on Islam. Worked out good for me cause I was usually providing all the Q's :p
