Salam alaykom everyone,

I have a friend who is 3 years younger than me, he is 15 years old. He is raised Muslim, but does'nt know alot about Islam, his religion, although he fasts in Ramadan...

But anyways he is a big rap fan, and he is a "rapper", himself. One day he was "freestyling" at my cousins house, and he said THIS to rhyme with other words : "I am God's son!" (Aztarkhfirullah)

I immidietaly told him : "What the hell did you just say????"
Being ignorant and naive as he is, he told me "Relax, you know I did'nt really mean it, it was only an expression."

Then I told him Allah did not accept repentance from those who associate partners to Him, and he freaked out to the maximum... He shouted : "OOO man I'm so stupid!! I'm so stupid! I can't believe I just said this!! *Slaps himself in the face* Why did'nt you tell me earlier??? I did'nt know about this!! I thought it did'nt anger Allah to say things like this if we did'nt mean it!!! I'm done!!!"

Then I told him to calm down, and told him that since he is young and did'nt know about this, surely Allah will not judge him for this. But I told him to never do it again, because Allah will judge him if he does it a second time. Am I right?

have faith in Allah, and remind him that Allah is oft forgiving, and Allah knows everything, he knows whats visible and what is hidden.

Surely if he did not know, then he should repent and seek forgiveness.

Aslong he doesnt believe he is actually Allah's son, he should repent and seek forgiveness from Him.

just reassure him.

Salaam alaykum wa rehmatullahi wa barakatuh,

A similar incident (yes I call it incident), happened with my friends who are the same age as me. We were playing football (soccer) and one brother got 'schooled' as in deked out like 100x by me and this other guy and so this other guy said "Oh XXXXX, you got deked so many times that Allah cant even keep count." Naudhubillah! Naudhulillah La hawla wala quwatta illah billah!

So instinctively I said, "What!?" and at the time i was holding a water bottle which I kinda threw in his face, instinctively and explained to him about shirk and he said he didnt know and repented.

For shirk, we must understand what it is first so that we can stay away from it and evaluate our actions and thoughts whether they fall into that category so that we dont commit this crime.

And there is a beautiful du'a which you will find in your copy of Hisnul Muslim (Fortification of Muslim).

It is called Supplication for fear of Shirk, p220 in my copy.

Allahumma inni a'uthu bika, an ushrika bika, wa anaa a'lamu wa astaghfiruka limaa laa a'lamu

Translation:

"Oh Allah. I seek refuge in You lest I associate anything with You knowingly, and I seek Your forgiveness for what I do unknowingly." Ahmed 4/403, Sahih al Jami As-Saghir 3/233

So in the case of both incidents, I pray that this was done unknowingly. Sometimes we may even know what shirk is, inside out, but commit it unknowingly by overlooking some detail.

For example, in english class we were writing an essay, and my friend wrote in his essay "democracy is the best method of governing," so I stopped him and said "this is shirk akhi, Allah's Rule is the best." And when I looked at my own essay the last line said "By extremely caring for the environment, we cannot stop Judgement Day, only prolong it." I had over looked the implication of this. This is shirk. Indeed the Last Hour is fixed and Allah knows its time, nothing will prolong it, nothing will hasten it, until Allah decrees.

Tell your friend to recite that Du'a, it is VERY handy. I pray that Allah protect us from the shaytaan, because it will be his 'eid when he makes someone commit shirk. May Allah protect us from this crime.

Oh Allah. I seek refuge in You lest I associate anything with You knowingly, and I seek Your forgiveness for what I do unknowingly.

Thanks for that, I'll hand it to him.

However, do you think he is an apostate since he did'nt know the ruling about joking with important matters like this?

erm i don't think he's an apostate just ignorant. Isn't an apostate a muslim who openly and knowingly disregards islam. Your friend showed remorse straight away when told so i wouldn't call him an apostate. If he said he didn't care aout shirk or what he said in regards to Allah then maybe but i tihkn for that it would be best to put the specific situation/conversation to a scholar. :)

LOL at smacking his own face! Sorry the whole situation is not funny but did he have to make it worse by overreacting and smacking himself!

Salaams 2 all

Thanks 4 dua .

I like to share 1 more type of shirk that we commit. Unknowingly..

That is..When we take medication. We say this tablet …this capsule…etc.

Is not working…or this tablet is really good & is very effective in curing ‘x’ disease…

This too is shirk..

As the healing power of a medicine is too provided by the almighty Allah.

& Everything happens because Allah wills so.

We should say by the will of Allah this medicine is good , Or it really works.
