Greetings

The Shafi'i School of jurisprudence seems to advocate cultural/genetic discrimination, when it states in 'Book M: Marriage' that a non-Arab man is an unsuitable match for an Arab woman:

Reliance of the Traveller
A Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law according to Shafi'i School
Book M: Marriage
Examples of unsuitability: m4.2
m4.2 The following are not suitable matches for one another:

a non-Arab man for an Arab woman (O: because of the hadith that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, "Allah has chosen the Arabs above others");

(source: http://www.witness-pioneer.org/vil/Books/NHMK_RT/book_m.htm#m4.2 )

Can anybody explain why this is so? I allways hear muslims say that there is no discrimination in Islam...

salam

((Allah has chosen the Arabs above others''))

Absolutely: this not true ………….Also this against Koran.

This site full by (fake Hadith), as it is known more than 50% of Hadith are fake.

The opinions of scholars not valid for every time and place. Muslims should get their information from Koran, then from (CORRECT) hadith.

If you want to learn about Islam you should study its basic resources and trusted sites, not to follow such sites which full by fake Hadiths and opinions of unknown scholars.

These are silly information. The prophet agrees to allow his cousin 5She was pure Arab women) to marry African slave!!!!

Also he said : No Arab better than non Arab, no White better than black………

Prophet said: (( Arab not race, it is language. Who talk Arabic will be considered as Arab)).

Please this site full by lies. There are hundreds thousands of Fake Hatdith which were created in the first century of Islam after horrible civil wars………….

Thank you brother bilal for ur comments!
it should be known that the Holy Quran and the sunnah of the prophet hold precedence. our 4 jurisprudence scholars based their verdicts on these two sources and logic. however they were humans and may have stated something unintentionally inappropriate or wrong. all the 4 imams claim that if something is found in the Quran and Sunnah that goes in contrary to what they stated then they should abandon that partucular verdict of theirs. Now coming to Imam Shaafii regarding this matter. Firstly note that the source provided does not give the reference from which they quoted imam shaafii. It should be known that there are many lies and fabrications attributed to these 4 imams which are in circulation. Unless the proper reference is not provided one cannot determine the authenticity of this particular verdict. Secondly let us say even if this claim is authentic then there can be many explanations for it. imam Shaafii lived in the second century of Islam in the regions of palestine, hejaaz and egypt. He spent most of his time in Egypt and it was here when he used to issue verdicts. In egypt those who accepted Islam adopted arabic customs and ways. whereas those who remained christian kept their coptic language and heritage. This feature is obvious in even today in egypt. for this reason by non-Arab ,Imam Shaafii could have actually meant non Muslim. Also the source for the prophetic tradition is not given here. even let us if there is a hadith like then there can be many different interpretations. the prophet's follower during his lifetime were all arabs except for a handful of individuals. So therefore by the term "Arab" the prophet could have meant "Muslim".Note that there is no discrimination in islam as brother bilal has shown in much more details
best regards
