I'm going to post the answers to the first part of lesson 10, first. Please stand by for the follow up posts which will, (insh Allah) contain the second and third parts. I must admit I'm finding the case endings a little difficult to grasp.

1.) To be sure that you understand the concept of subject, object and verb, pick out the subject, object and verb from each of these English sentences

Key:- subject, object, verb

a) The cat ate the mouse.
b) Did you put the cheese on the table?
c) A big boy kicked his sister.
d) Mummy cooked some tasty food.
e) We all learn Arabic.

a) Ramzi ate my food.
أكل رمزيُ طعاميَ
b) Mohammed wrote that book.
كتب محمدُ ذالك كتابُ
It needs to have "al" infront of kitaab. Have a look in lesson 2 again if you want to review about that :)
c) Alia drank Coca Cola.
شربَ عليُ كوكَ كولاً
lol actually the question asked for Alia, which is a girl and would have been sharibat but I think you misred it as Ali so khayr, it is ok
d) I wore a nice shirt and you wore a nice shirt.
لبستُ قميصاً جميلاً و لبستَ قميصاً جميلاً
e) Yousef found the dog under the table.

وجدَ يوسفُ الكابَ فوق الميدة
kalb has been typed wrong with an alif.. I am sure you knew the real way though. Also Meeda I think must be a slang, it should be maa'ida (meem alif, ya on kursi, dal ta marbuta) or you can use the word Taawla

البنتُ
The one problem here is with the spelling of sayyaratan. Because it ends in a ta marbuta, when you add the 2 fatha to such words, you just write it on the ta marbuta not changing the ta to a normal ta and adding alif...

[QUOTE=abd-al-haqq]4.) write 5 of your own sentences with a subject a verb and an object.

شربَتْ نورةُ ماء
actually hamza is another one like ta marbuta, you would write the fathatayn on the hamza not on a fresh alif

ًذَهَبَ محمدُ إلا المدينةَ
the ila which you need here is spelled with alif maqsora :)
لبس عليُ قميساً أسرقاً
qamees is with a saad. also i am wondering do you mean "azraq" as in blue? so the spelling should be with zay not seen, and it is dipote (mamno3 min as sarf) so it would hav only one fatha
هل كتبَ احمدُ كتاباً؟

شربَ ذالك مدرسُ عصيراً برتقالاًit needs to be "dhalik AL mudarris" as in an earlier excersize, also you can't really say "3aseeran burtuqaalan" you have to say "3aseer al burtuqaal" in an idaafa, because it is not just "an orange juice" in which case it would have been burtuqaaliyy anyway, but it is the juice of an orange... so just put in an idafa always.

أكل رمزيُ طعاميَ

Ramzi ate my food.

If I want to say:

Ramzi ate your (girl) food.
"Akala Ramziyuun ta3aamuki"

or;

Ramzi ate his food.
"Akala Ramziyuun ta3aamuhu"

Where is the fatha placed in such statements?

Thanks for the lessons, Anna! Jazakallah khayr.

Aye, much appreciated for the prompt and clear reply, Sis Anna. I'll post here for the benefit of anyone else here learning arabic:-

wa alaykum salam owen glad u are benefitting from the Arabic lessons

in those cases which u mentioned, the case ending ie the fatha is always placed on the end letter of the actual word... ie

Ta3aamahu
Ta3aamaki

etc

only irregular is that in Ta3aamy the ya ending kind of does not make it possible to show the case ending. You would not say Ta3aamya though.

The possesive endings themselves never change because of the case.
