If God wanted to punish America for what they have done to the Islamic world, why would he target a city populated by poor black people? He would be barking up the wrong tree. Besides, hurricanes happen every year in America, on this occasion it was human error that alowed it to destroy New Orleans (poor disaster organisation etc) rather than just causing minor damage. Just remember how many disasters happen in muslim countries.. "the pot calling the kettle black".
I really do believe you need to think more carefuly about what you have been taught and perhaps apply a little common sense.

The poster claims God is punishing America for it's adventures in Iraq/Afghanistan using Hurricane Katrina.
My point is, if God wanted to punish America for her attacks on muslim nations then why is he not attacking the 'white capitalist fat cats' who are promoting the war and profiting from it?

Allah says in the Quran that he sends down punishments upon a nation to HUMBLE them. Isn't that what happened to America? So don't think of it as a punishment in the sense that America is finally getting "punished" for their world policies-because Muslims in the Middle East and Pakistan have alot of problems also. It is to HUMBLE them and bring them closer to Allah.

I disagree.
Race has a huge part to play in who you are where you feel you belong, much more than religion, you can choose which religion to follow but you cannot choose your roots. It is a stronger force within a person than religion, in my opinion of course.
Heck, if it is only religion that differentiates between us all then what the hell was the civil rights movement all about?!

Race maybe a stronger or more definitive factor for individuals than their religion but ISLAMICALLY it SHOULDN'T be.
Muslims are one Ummah and our RELIGION defines that ummah not our race. The stronger we begin to feel this and are able to put aside those unnesseccary feelings of nationalism then inshallah the stronger our Ummah will grow. :)
In regards to the hurricane:
Allah is All-Wise and All-Seeing. We should not try to assume why he may decree an event unless he has specifically told us in the Qura'an or Hadith of this event and it's purpose.
One of the minor signs of Judgement day:
Earthquakes will increase (Bukhari & Muslim)
