Question regarding Mohammad's (pbuh) father's name

Hello, there is something that confuses me regarding the name of Mohammad's (pbuh) father, Abd-Allah.

First of all I was told that before the revelation bestowed upon Mohammad (pbuh) the Arabs were pagans.

Then I found out that Mohammad's (pbuh) father went by a very Islamic name, (Abd-Allah).

I've heard two contrasting explanations for this. One is that the name Allah had been been incorrectly bestowed onto a pagan idol. Or secondly that Mohammad's (pbuh) family were in fact believers in La Illaha Il Allah prior to the revelations.

Can anyone please help alleviate my confusion please.

akhi......we have big misconception.......the arabs were not pagans in the sense of that they worshipped those idols and believed that there is no supreme God...that's a misconception......the arabs believed that Allah is the creator ofeverything and that this idols are short means to worship him........like awliyaa...

this verse explain it

Is it not to Allah that sincere devotion is due? But those who take for protectors other than Allah (say): "We only serve them in order that they may bring us nearer to Allah." Truly Allah will judge between them in that wherein they differ. But Allah guides not such as are false and ungrateful.

so the pagans dıdnit deny Allah exıst as the creator but their faith with corrupted and so they thought that the more they serve "God deputies on earth" the more God will lovet hem

Say: Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?-- Say: Allah. Say: Do you take then besides Him guardians who do not control any profit or harm for themselves? Say: Are the blind and the seeing alike? Or can the darkness and the light be equal? Or have they set up with Allah associates who have created creation like His, so that what is created became confused to them? Say: Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Supreme.
