This is my first serious poem on the forum since joining :)
And its just a collection of my thoughts on something we should all feel concerned about as members of the human race.
More and more...
Too much consumption, too much pollution,
too much stimulation, too much aggravation,
push, pull, back, forth,
confusion, agitation, depression annihilation.
Undoubtedly we may just see
that we are devoid of responsibility,
free from all ties that Allah the most wise
laid down in front of our eyes
to keep us on track and save ourselves from the attack
of our enemy, the accursed who will not turn his back,
on his mission, his intention, his lifelong ambition
to make us need more and more, eat more and more,
sleep more and more- forever more wanting more.
Instant gratification, yet no real satisfaction,
the primordial disposition that led to the fall of our father Adam.
The bigger picture is clearer than a cloudless sky,
yet our hearts are covered by a deep greed, a need for speed.
Just calm down and maybe you will realize
that worldly acquisitions no matter how big the size
will not follow you to the grave- I advise.
Our bodies are on loan
our land is not our own.
For in reality we must see that we are not alone,
in the zone we call home.
Interconnectedness, relatedness, we are all but one,
to take the right of your brother is to take the rights of all.
If all we do is care for “me” and forget about the “we”
personal individuality and self-fortune will persevere,
Ya insan, do you not know that our reckoning draws near!
