Salaam,

The sister who was attacked supposedly had written this email. I'm gonna check to see if its authentic.

----

Dear Brothers and Sisters Aslaam-o-Alyekum,

I am the sister who was attacked, and I feel, I should put my story

straight, to dispel the Chinese whispers. I don’t know how and by whom this has been blown out of proportion.

The facts of the matter are I went to Sainsbury’s one evening and a bunch of Juvenile Delinquents (of Afro-Caribbean background) hanging around, and they try to mug me and during this exchange. I did fall to the ground a slight tear happened on my jilbab, then they as a taxi driver went passed, and shouted, they ran off.

They said nothing about my religion and race; they were merely after my handbag. This was NOT an Islamophobic attack, anyone in my vulnerable position, Muslim or not could have been on the receiving end. I viewed it like a playground bully attack. I went to work as usual the next day.

I got up and went home; afterwards I decided to visit the hospital to get myself checked, to make sure that the fall had not affected my pregnancy.

A community support officer (in a blue shirt not a proper Police officer) was on site. I refused to give a statement or have this crime registered, as far as I’m concerned it is a run-of-the-mill, opportunistic thugery, by a bunch of youths who are devoid of understanding, and I did not want this to be whipped up and unnecessarily sensationalised.

What attracted me to Islam was it high virtues of patience, tolerance and mercy. Please let us manifest values; so that other people like me can discover this beautiful deen, whose Prophet was the Prophet of mercy to all of the world.

Jazakallakhair to all brothers and sisters for their support, please do dua for me and dua for guidance for my assailants. The blessed Prophet of mercy (pbuh) said ‘help the oppressor and the oppressed’, the oppressor by stopping him from his oppression, this can be done by presented the gift of Islam to them, package with tolerance and mercy.

I have written this email because this minor assault has the potential to ignite bad feelings, so brothers who have some kind of vengeance in mind, please not in my name at least, because I know that the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) even forgave the brutal murderers of his beloved uncle Hamza (RA), these same people become the best of Muslims.

We must understand all societies have bad apples, but this country is my home and I’m proud of the fact that people are dealt with fairness and justice, and despite what happened I feel it is still one of the safest country in the world.

I did eventually report this to the Police after some persuasion, and I found the Police extremely professional and caring, and grateful to them for their help and support. The Prophet (pbuh) says he who is not grateful to the person is not grateful to Allah.

Those sisters who know me, can contact me to clarify this email is from me, not made up.

Waslaam-o-Alykum-Wa-Rahmatullah

Your sister appealing to reconciliation, and mercy in the hearts of the Ummah of the Prophet of mercy, inviting in the way of the Most Merciful.
