the problem now is that once war has been started, it is not really practical to stop it suddenly. It's an all or nothing thing, so even if it is a mistake it's better to see it through and try and see some kind of peace in Iraq, if that's ever possible but fingers are crossed

I think the alignment with Iran may create some stability to the country, it will be a long way from peace though and maybe not be what was envisaged prior to invasion.

However, getting our troops out of there is a priority, the less army involvement the better, as it appears things back home are getting worse and looking increasingly like a police state beause of it.

" The only thing we have to fear is fear itself - nameless, unreasoning, unjustified, terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."

FDR - First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1933

The above is why You and others like you fail as leaders.

Statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception.
