Assalamu Aleikum...please read and forward to your contacts...if you can afford to please contribute (if you can't individually, perhaps you could as part of a group of brothers and/or sisters for example at work...at uni/college/school or as a family) ... inshaAllaah this will count as sadaqah jaariyah as its going towards her education, and this is reward that will benefit us even in the grave and this is something that we can all benefit from :) ~ Hafsah

Cennet Doganay is a 16 year old French sister who has become another victim of the French government’s hijab ban. Last year, Cennet was forced to remove her hijab following the introduction of the law banning religious symbols from public schools. Cennet was given a choice between her deen and her education. She chose her deen. Cennet is now in the process of taking legal action against both the school and the State. However, this will be a lengthy process during which time Cennet will not be able to attend school due to the ban.

Consequently, Cennet has made the brave decision to move to London away from her family and friends to continue her education. She has two years of secondary school remaining. Cennet is in need of financial assistance in order for her to continue her education here. She has currently found accommodation in a Muslim sisters’ hostel. The rent, including bills, however is £409 pounds a month. Consequently, IHRC are hoping to get 41 brothers and sisters to sign up to a £10 monthly standing order to cover this. This would mean Cennet and her family would not need to worry about her accommodation for the duration of her stay in London.

Athough its our duty to help, but over £400 a month for accom?

I assume this is for a room, and rooms in London start at about £55 a week.

If someone is in trouble, shud they not make do with the bare nesessites?

And also as a Muslim, shud she or anyone for that matter not work?

I remember going though Uni sometimes working 30 hours a week over 3 days to make sure I have enough money to live on.
I would come to monday morning lectures practically half dead.

This money would be better spent in parts of the world where money is ACTUALLY needed.

no offence.

Can someone give me some money?

shes a young sister.. SCHOOL student..not a uni student..i think shes too young to get a job

£409 a month sounds pretty reasonable considering it includes all her bills etc...its to help a sister out so she can continue her education...nobody is asking ONE individual to give £409 a month...but if we all give £10 (for some this may even be too much to give every month... but if you get together with a group of friends...or family members...each giving a pound or two) it'll make a big difference

what we give in charity...we always get it back...either in this life or the next..and as this is for her education...its sadaqah jaariyah..so will continue benefiting us into the grave

I have to say i kind of agree with nickedNick, I was quite shocked at it being 400, i guess thats common in London, could she not have moved to out of London?

Khayr, inshaAllah she gets the money for accomodation, May Allah give her sabr and perseverence through her struggle to come here and may Allah accept her move to London. Allahu Akbar!

£409 is not that uncommon for London... this is what you would pay in uni accom if you study in London so its kind of average for that kind of thing.

I had a friend who got married and went to Mauritius on her honeymoon....a devout Roman Catholic, she wanted to take the bible . However, due to Islamic laws she was unable to....so tell me why should it be obligaory to supply for Islam in France, Britian and America. If I were to go to Saudi Arabia, I know I would have to adopt Islamic lifestyle!

400 quids per month is what you expect for a room in london inclusive of bills.

mashallah nice to see muslims choosing their deen rtaher then education. anyway she is not allowed to live away without mehram. so she cant come to uk alone unless she has mehram with her. islamically not allowed. muslims in france should al boycott school. and setup own private school.
alah is the only one who we follow obey worship not some stupid french president who will go to hell

I think what you will find is that it was more likely that the only place that would accept her was a place only available in London. London tends to have all sorts of organizations compared to places outside of London, so it would make sense why London seems to be the place of choice.

Either way, I somewhat agree with abu r. I think she should not be away from her family at such a young age. If she is experiencing this type of problem then the only weapon Muslims have in fighting this successfully is patience. And in the mean time those who are concerned with such an issue as this need to think about raising money to set-up private schools.

Salman has pointed out Mauritius is not a muslim country. I dont know why bibe was not allowed there. Just because bible is not allowed there doesn't mean that there is no freedom of religion. It is simply that people in the east percieve some chrisitians in the west to be militant xians and hence are all out to stop them. A typical example are the hindu extremists in india attacking and even killing xian missionaries from abroad.

So mauritius not being a muslim country has nothing to do with it? but the fact the muslims should be blamed because she couldn't is?
