We is the subject, Arabic is the object and learn is the verb.

لبستِ ليلي ملابسة جديدة

هل فعل عملكَ؟ (did you do your work? Would it be right for me to say that?)

(actually Ramzi is a boy's name but if it had been feminine then you would have been right)

(here I think you want to say "Layla wore..." right? so you have to remove the kasra from the verb. If you wanted to say "you wore new clothes, Layla" then you have to put "yaa" in front of the name, plus I am not sure why you have added a ta marbuta to the end of malaabis. It should not be there :p)

(you've forgotten to congugate the verb properly. What you wrote means "did HE do your work?" which also makes sense but is not what you meant to ask)

WaLaahi i looove this language and now when i read Quraan or hear it, i can make out some of the words. Subhan Allah that feels really good.

I wanted to ask what is the difference between اهذا...؟ و هل هذا...؟

Do "hal" and "a" correspond to particular words in English? R they in a definate or indefinate form or am i going way ahead of myself here?:D

salaam alaykum sis...

well the meaning is really exactly the same, they are both known as "interrogative particles" meaning that if u put it at the start of a sentence it will become a question. Some times one may sound better than another, simply because of style..
they are nothing to do with definate or indefinate, when you want to make a question you can just chose either of these words, place it at the start of the sentence and it will not be wrong.
