Would it reassure you it takes me a few mins to get ready, i don't wear makeup but combats, sporty tops, trainers and the lot. And that trivial things do not matter like hair styling cuz i wear Hidjaab

Also it helps to meet up when people are in the same borough not one in the states, a few in Brum and some in London.

Fine next time ther'es an ummah meeting i urge all sisters not to care about their appearances and emerge with... checked shirts  :D

HA!

And there's nothing wrong with looking after one's appearance providing that it isn't too time consuming, i'm sure the ummah brothers take time to look after their beards and such to give a good message, and you don't know how hard it is to angle MASSIVE Hidjaabs and pin them properly without hurting one's head :crying:-- ~ahem~ :p

It doesn't take that long. Simply whack on some mousse, use a comb to tidy and straighten the strands out.

An occassional trim helps get rid of split ends... but not everyday.

Thats a sensible piece of advice for sisters. For modesty reasons its important to check your shirts preferably in front of the mirror before you wear them in public.

:freedom:

:salams

errr... 3 things.

1. There won't be much time left in the day to show off beards if most of the time is spent on stylin' the beards.

2. Facial hair is more rigid and harder for wind to blow out of style.

3. Guys don't carry vanity mirrors in their wallets like sisters do in their handbags.

Another sensible piece of advice for sisters. Use your car mirrors for drivin' purposes.

As for brothers... the car mirrors aren't long enough to see the full beard :afro: .

Actually no.

We were blessed with meeting IG's mum and Inayah's youngest darling.

My own son Michael completed the young crowd.

And then in November, a few of us met up again at zee and seven's wedding. :inlove:

I guess some brothers are much more focused on others things that they forget about their own look. I myself try to do the minimum, look presentable but try not to do too much :P .

Olive Oil! woohooo.. Some on my hair some on my beard, and then with my little greasy hands over my face, and then head to the masjid.... :D

hahaha, i am quiet strict and find purchases such as gel, unacceptable due to muslims in other countries starving in poverty, such luxury i dislike :D

26-07-05, 03:04 PM
My brother once took all my hair mousee, which i dont use and it was by LOreal reALLY for women..and he put it all over his quiff and he was running around the house trying to find any kind of gel whatever it was and was slapping it on his quiff here and there and everywhere!and i even caught him taking a picture of himself with his camera phone and posing like he was going to be nominated for mr world!yeh more like MISS WORLD.

annieg
26-07-05, 03:05 PM
so wat about brothers who go on a tantrum cos there aint no gel in the house to style their quiffs?

I have only been blessed with sons in my family, and I naively believed that with no daughters I'd manage to get in my bathroom on occasion!

No such luck!

First they use up all the hot water in the shower and then the hair gel ceremonies begin.

Maybe I could take out the mirror that they worship at?

sisterukc
26-07-05, 03:07 PM
as a mother I think you should have a ban on any kind of gel and ONLY USE OIL, and yes i think the mirrors may have to go and place them all in your room..lol
actually that might be torture!

abdusamad
26-07-05, 03:08 PM
That is two of my brothers :( ...... I kindly joke with him "Why do you spend hours in the washroom like a girl, there is nobody wants to look at you"

He then takes a cheap shot at me and says "Ah! and with that beard no girl wants to look at you"

I respond "Well its sunnah and im trying to please Allah"

he then says "Ah ok! there goes any chance of getting a girl"

i say frustratingly "SubhanuAllah," (and walk away)

I go through that everyday with a total of 5 brothers and sisters in the house and one cousin, and my only who is praying and trying to follow the laws of islam as much as possible it is rough, inshaAllah Allah will reward me for my hardships :)

lol true!.. . not only that... we always master whaterever we do! We always surpass!! we can do more than 43974619374 tasks at a time... whereas men...uuuh...mmmh....do I need to get there?!

sisterukc
26-07-05, 10:55 PM
HAHHAHA DEFINATELTY!another thing why is that?how come women always intend to do a million tasks in one go and always complete it?is crazy but shows women are soo highly motivated and ofcourse no 1.
one thing i also have noticed with men, when the phone rings and they are sitting right in front of it, or the cordless is on their lap they either take forever to answer, or sometimes just never answer!!!!!!!

Its hard to diagree with you :( Its a common problem. And most the time we are not aware we are doin' it...

---------

Turning Away From Pointless Talk
Allah Most High has said: Successful are the believers, who are humble in their prayers, and who turn away from pointless talk, [23:1-3] and: Those who do not bear witness to what is false, but when they pass by pointless talk, pass by with dignity, [25:72] and: When they hear pointless talk, they turn away from it. [28:55]

"Pointless talk" [laghw] is speech which is futile and irrelevant, and bears no relation to any true purpose. It brings no benefit to the one who utters it, and may well bring him misfortune instead.

Ali (r) related that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, "It is part of a man's sound practice of Islam that he leave alone that which is of no concern to him." [At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah]

Dhu'l-Nun said, "Whoever loves Allah lives truly, and whoever inclines to anything else damages his mind. A foolish man comes and goes, paying attention to what is nothing, while the intelligent man inspects his own thoughts scrupulously."
