Campaign for economic justice, that does more than giving to charity. For every pound given to third world charity, nine pounds comes back again in debt repayments.

Keep on at your MP and Blair to drop more and more debt. They've dropped some of the debt which is a far better position than six or seven years ago, the campaigning is slowly working.

Keep on buying fair trade, insist that your shops and supermarkets stock fair trade. Join in the campaign for trade justice (various charity shops and the co-operative bank are involved)

Campaign against organisations like the IMF and WTO which make and enforce trade laws that benefit multinational companies and screw over small scale farmers and businesses particularly those in the poorest parts of the world.

Don't just look at these pages, there are loads of other stuff from these websites about things you can do to help the poor and oppressed in Africa and other parts of the world.

The Qur'an describes an economic system that is fair. Until such a system is established worldwide, we have to do what we can to make life easier for those who are at the downtrodden end of the disgustingly unfair economic system we have at the moment.

Insha'Allah I'll add some more links for campaigns for economic justice as there are many many organisations working on these issues.

Those are nice words and kind thoughts but unfortunately millions collected go straight into the coffers of corrupt leaders for their Mecedes and gold taps etc. It doesn't get to the people. As in the Tsunami, houses are being built with donation money but the people are having to mortage the property:rubeyes: Who therefore is benefitting.....not the people.

Assalamualikum to all my brohters and sisters.....
dear, as this site is meant to answer the questions in the light of Islam....
It is the truth that Islam is the complete way to lead your life and is comprised of Quran and Hadiths...where Quran tells what to do and Hadiths tells how to do.....
so if we read the Islamic history we come to know the best way to beat povery on which for over decades the westersn are being abided by this...
if we thoruough study the life of "Khulfa e Rashideen" that how they beat the povery, not partially but entirely, that there was no body who was left poor..
so we should learn from Hadiths to beat up the povery..
Thats way Allah said in Quran that "do offer prayers, do pay zakats etc.." so this meangs of Zakat is that the money from the capitalist should be transffered to the poor community.
the povery can only be finished if there is proper distribution of wealth among the people of the country/community or like this...
and in Islam, the throughout procedure is avaiable that how this can be done..
Also there is corruption which is the biggest barrier in the equal distribution of wealth, so unless people abide by islam or its rules or procedures,, poverty can not be finished or even deminished....
thanks for reading...

Give Charity by Feeding Someone Iftar

The Islamic ruling of feeding the fasting is that of feeding the poor and the responsibility is the same. The rewards can be greater however, as The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has said.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has said, "Whoever feeds a fasting person be it a date, or a sip of water or a gulp of milk, and the month is one the beginning of which is mercy, the middle of which is forgiveness and the end of which is freedom from the fire: whoever lightens the load of his subordinates, Allah will forgive him and free him from the fire… And whoever quenches the thirst of a fasting person Allah will give him drink from a special pool and he will never feel thirst until entry into Jannah."

Fiz'abil Allah,

Al- Medina Muhammad Israfil Haneef

First you must help them physically and then offer them the spiritual guidance from Islam. Do not persuade them to buy their well-being with a shahada.
This is the way of Islam, there is a Muslim Ummah which is part of a greater Ummah.

Also...
People, keep it up with the anti-war stuff as well, because the amount of money that the Military Industrial Complex accumulates is ridiculous and counter-productive.

....my first post in ages!!!
